MyLife.com is a Scam, Says Class Action Lawsuit
By Sarah Pierce

MyLife.com

Are the people behind Classmates.com back to their old tricks? That’s what a federal class action lawsuit is claiming.

The class action lawsuit accuses the company behind Classmates.com of preying on new victims by rebranding itself as MyLife.com after it lost a class action lawsuit last year. Classmates.com was sued in 2008 for defrauding consumers out of money by using spam emails that falsely stated individuals and past acquaintances were trying to contact them. Classmates.com settled the class action lawsuit last year for $9.5 million, but the crew behind Classmates.com has continued the scam under the new name MyLife.com, says the class action.

According to the MyLife class action lawsuit:

“MyLife.com is a scam that begins with a false solicitation telling potential victims that ‘someone’ is searching for them, and they can find out who by paying a small fee. If this ruse succeeds in convincing the victim to provide credit card or other payment information for a ‘free trial period’ or a low-price membership ($9.95 per month), MyLife then overbills the victim’s credit card for a much larger amount, often more than $100. In exchange for this payment, MyLife provides access to a list of fake names of people supposedly ‘searching for you,’ together with access to a worthless website that is of no conceivable value to anyone.”

As if that’s not bad enough, the class action continues, “MyLife hacks into their address books to target their friends, family and other contacts with spam solicitations stating that ‘someone’ is looking for them. This starts the cycle anew by priming the pump with a fresh crop of victims that MyLife tricks with false solicitation, overbills and hacks.”

The MyLife class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons, worldwide, who purchased services from www.mylife.com, from the date the site commenced operation through the present. It is also seeking to certify a subclass of all class members who purchased services from MyLife for personal, family or household purposes. It is seeking damages, restitution and other relief.

  1. Citizen Mom says:

There is complete falsehood and defamation of character on a mylife profile that claims to be about me. It has my last name wrong and is totally misleading designed to demoralize individuals. Clearly this website is a political operation that should be taken down.

  2. Ezequiel Pitty says:

I also agreed with many people on this thread I just found in the website mylife.com information about me that is misleading and deceptive. and providing public information that is not real and or incorrect. This website should be taken down. It affects people’s reputation, is deceptive and misleading. How do I get on the Class Action Lawsuit, I’m on board suing this website and its owners.

    1. Citizen Mom says:

This is a complete fraud and the mylife.com is designed to put people in harm’s way. How can this type of lying machine even exist?

      1. kelly rae says:

Yes, it is certainly a political operation. It is defamation, and it is illegal.

    2. Denise Lavelle says:

Hello I would like to be added to this list as well because I was defrauded out of $290 from my life.com and all the information they have on me is false as well from the so called $1 trial period! Big scam

  3. Rebecca Campbell says:

Is it too late to join the class?

  4. GinaMarie Interiano says:

I have a recorded conversation relling them to delete my account. She said give 10 days. Its a couple of months and I just google search it and foumd MY picture with my exhusband’s info and even that is incorrect. I plan on calling tomorrow with another recorded conversation. I hope they get what is coming to them!

  5. MomWantsKidsSafe says:

A separate class action needs to be litigated for the fact that they are SELLING public information found on free sites without our permission!

If an employer wants a background check, one must agree. If a loan officer wants to run a credit and or background check, one must sign a document. Mind you, in either case, permission is not granted for sale of that information unless one agrees via privacy disclosure! These companies are selling information without permission!

I have not, personally, agreed to let any of them research my name, address, or any public records, let alone have I given permission to sell said information! They are thieves robbing me of my cut and/or privacy!!!

Feel free to contact me, Topclassactions.com! I will participate!

  6. John Mone says:

This stuff is all fake , Im looking into joining the class action law suite that was on ABC news today, Ive never been arrested or had any law suite against me , it also has my wife and daughter which is ridiculous as none of us has any arrest or judgements against us.

    1. Margie says:

Same here. I’ve never been arrested or had any issues ever. I have excellent credit and I’ve always lived a good life. This company should not exist as they are a perfect example of defamation on innocent victims.

  7. Alexis says:

Please help! This thing says I have Lawsuits & Judgements, Arrests.
Shows many different States, of different issues, but showing my picture, name, age & town I live(d) in!
As far as I know I have no Lawsuits & Judgments?
I know I arrested but that was dropped as I never actually fought I was pushed fown a flight of stairs & kicked & hit by a woman but the Coos took us both, instead of bringing me to the hospital!
    Charges were dropped!
Just wanted to clarify my arrest, as prior I hadn’t been in the system!
& as for other states I haven’t done much traveling, & I haven’t been in any situation in another state for the couple I’ve traveled to?
I keep getting things from this site!
    Is it fraud?
Or is this just a Scam?
    Is this actually Real

    1. Kristi V. says:

The information on mylife.com site is false, misleading and deceptive — therefore a “reputation score” based on this data that they are financially benefiting from is a violation of my privacy (and others’), as well we defamation of character and name.

Legally, there must be something done to put this scumbag out of business for good.

Do we not live in the USA? Where is our legal system when we need them? Public record is public record, but when it is false information, that is absolutely illegal. People are losing potential employment opportunities, and having their names and reputations trashed all over this site, and it is still up and running?

Makes you wonder who he is paying off and who is really benefitting from all of this…. someone in power, that’s for sure.

      1. MomWantsPrivacy says:

I’m in the United States! I’m tired of having to monitor and request opt outs! I agree! These thieves are robbing us of privacy and/or our cut of the action! Selling free public information and marketing other information falsely should be illegal!!!

Demanding payment to change the info they have on you is even worse!!! Extortion!!!

      2. Margie says:

Perfectly written. I too am a victim of this company publishing false information about me. There has to be something we could do to stop them.

  8. Eva Vollera says:

I have asked mylife to remove my information before since I do not have an account with them and I am a doctor and one of my patients asked if I had ever done an offense since their site is insinuating that there have been offenses and arrests. They removed it and now put it up with a picture of me. This is hurting my career and very uncomfortable. How are they allowed to still operate like this their insinuations are also in red so it draws you to specifically read that.

  9. Rosemarie Negron says:

Please help me! Iyried calling my life to remove my information of there site. I waited for someone yo come to the phone, no one came to it. I was looking g on line to see how many women had my name. And norn in the same year as me. And I saw all my information for all to see just by googling my name. Most of it was not even true. Om a senior citizen now. I have s lot of children, snd grandchildren. Not to mention my church family, and I’m on disability. I didn’t sleep all night. Deformation of my character. Hurtful to my children. I just want them to please remove it. Thats all I want. It’s s lot of them doing this. Why is there no law to protect us from being violated this way! And it’s scary! Please help

  10. Jill Hoyt says:
