Second Nature Reese’s Pieces Brownie Brittle recall overview:

  • Who: Second Nature recalled 4-ounce packages of Gluten Free Reese’s Pieces Brownie Brittle.
  • Why: The products may contain undeclared wheat.
  • Where: The brownie brittle recall is active in the United States.

Second Nature Brands has issued a recall on some of its 4-ounce packages of Gluten Free Reese’s Pieces Brownie Brittle, as the products may contain undeclared wheat; one consumer reported illness from eating the product.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website published the recall March 23. It applies to 4-ounce packages of Gluten Free Reese’s Pieces Brownie Brittle with lot codes SG 1054 15/NOV/2023 1S and SG 1054 15/NOV/2023 2S.

According to the brownie brittle recall, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Second Nature received one illness report to date related to the recall, it says.

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Cross-contamination cause of brownie brittle recall, Second Nature says

Second Nature initiated the recall after it discovered a co-manufacturer distributed the gluten-containing product in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat, the company says.

Second Nature distributed the recalled Gluten Free Reese’s Pieces Brownie Brittle nationwide in retail stores and through online orders. Production has been suspended until the FDA and the company are certain the problem has been corrected, the recall states.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product should not consume the product and should contact Brownie Brittle for a full refund.

Meanwhile, the Scenic Fruit Co. initiated a frozen organic strawberry and frozen organic tropical blend recall due to possible hepatitis A contamination. The berries are sold under multiple brands at Aldi, Costco, Trader Joe’s and other retailers.
