Recreational vehicle manufacturer Polaris issued a number of recalls in recent months over fire and injury risks. 

The recalls involve improperly welded seat belt bracket, a pair of fuel leaks, dangerous handlebar hooks, and a throttle and brake issue. 

A vehicle manufacturer may choose to initiate a recall if it determines the vehicle contains a defect that could make it unsafe to drivers, passengers and others around it. 

Polaris recalls 282 recreation vehicles over improperly welded seat belt brackets

Polaris initiated a recall for 282 of its recreational vehicles earlier this month over concerns they are equipped with an improperly welded driver’s side seat belt bracket. 

The recall involves 2023 Ranger utility task vehicles, 2024 Polaris Pro XD Full-Size Diesel Crews, 2024 Gravely Atlas JSV-3400s and the 2024 Bobcat UV34XKL Gas off road vehicles.

Polaris says it is concerned an improperly welded seat belt bracket could cause it to separate from the vehicles’ frame, creating an injury hazard. 

Vehicle owners should immediately stop using the recalled Polaris vehicles and contact the company or a registered Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection or repair, according to the recall. 

Polaris recalls 20,000+ recreational off-road vehicles over fuel leak concerns 

Polaris recalled more than 20,000 of its RZR Pro XP and Turbo R recreational off-road vehicles in May over concerns they could suffer a fuel leak, posing a fire hazard. 

The recall, which also includes around 330 vehicles sold in Canada, involves Polaris model year 2021-2023 RZR Pro XP 4 and 2022-2023 RZR Turbo R 4 vehicles. 

Polaris says it is concerned a fuel leak can occur at the vehicles’ fuel pump assembly joint on their fuel tank. 

Vehicle owners should immediately stop using the vehicles and contact Polaris or an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair, according to the recall. 

Polaris recalls snowmobiles handlebar hook puncture risk

Polaris recalled around 15,900 of its model year 2022-2023 Matryx Pro RMK and Matryx RMK Khaos snowmobiles in August over concerns their handlebar hooks could present a puncture hazard if they made impact with a body during a crash. 

The company received four reports of owners suffering a puncture wound from the handlebar hooks on the recalled snowmobiles, according to the recall

Vehicle owners should immediately stop using the recalled Polaris snowmobiles and contact the company or one of its authorized dealers to schedule a free repair, the recall states. 

Polaris, Bobcat, Gravely issue recall over fuel leak concerns 

Polaris and utility vehicle manufacturers Bobcat and Gravely recalled more than 12,300 utility vehicles and accessories in August over concerns they could suffer a fuel leak, creating a fire hazard. 

The recall, which also includes around 517 units sold in Canada, involves Polaris off-road vehicles, Bobcat and Gravely utility vehicles, and fuel pump kits and fuel tank assemblies. 

The vehicle manufacturers say a fuel leak could occur on the vehicles’ fuel tanks at their fuel pump outlet connector near a hot surface. 

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Polaris, Bobcat and Gravely vehicles and contact the vehicle manufacturers or one of their authorized dealers to schedule a free inspection and repair, according to the recall. 

Polaris recalls snowmobiles over fire concerns 

Polaris recalled 14,885 of its snowmobiles in May over concerns they could catch fire if the driver presses the throttle and brake simultaneously. 

The recall involves model year 2022-2023 Matryx RMK Khaos and Pro snowmobiles in either black or a custom color combination, with the words “Polaris” or “Khaos” stamped on their front side panel.

Polaris says it received 164 reports of brake system failures in the recalled snowmobiles and 22 reports of fires. 

Vehicle owners should immediately stop using the snowmobiles and contact Polaris or an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free vehicle repair, the recall states.
