Yamaha, Husqvarna Recall Overview:

  • Who: Yamaha has recalled five models of its golf cars and personal transportation vehicles (PTVs), totaling 5,000 vehicles. Additionally, Husqvarna is recalling 1,400 of its Automower 435X and 535 All-Wheel Drive Robotic Lawnmowers.
  • Why: Yamaha says the vehicles have a brake failure that poses a crash hazard to users and bystanders, which could result in injury or death. Meanwhile, Husqvarna says the lawnmowers’ lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a risk of fire.
  • Where: The recalls are nationwide in the United States.

Around 5,000 golf cars and personal transportation vehicles (PTVs), and 1,400 robotic lawn mowers are being recalled across the United States due to risks posed to consumers.

Yamaha has recalled five models of its golf cars and PTVs, totaling around 5,000 vehicles, due to a brake failure that poses a crash hazard to users and bystanders, which could result in injury or death, the company says in a recall notice. So far, no injuries have been reported.

This recall involves Yamaha model-year 2021 and 2022 vehicles sold in white, blue, green and orange.

The company is urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled Yamaha vehicles and contact a Yamaha Golf Car dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is contacting all registered owners directly, the company says.

The vehicles were sold at Yamaha dealers nationwide from April 2020 through August 2021 for between $6,000 and $9,500.

Husqvarna Recalls Lawn Mowers Due To Battery Issue

Meanwhile, Husqvarna is recalling 1,400 of its Automower 435X and 535 All-Wheel Drive Robotic Lawn Mowers due to an issue with the lawn mower’s battery.

In a recall notice, the company says the lithium ion battery can overheat, posing a risk of fire. To date, the company has received five reports of batteries overheating, including two reports of fires. Luckily, there have been no injuries reported.

The robotic lawn mowers, which freely and automatically cut grass, have the Husqvarna logo painted on the front of the lawn mower and the model number located on the top. The 435X model is gray with orange on the wheels, and the 535 model is orange and gray with white wheels.

The company is asking consumers to stop using the recalled lawn mowers and download the free software update from Husqvarna Professional Products. Consumers whose lawn mowers have had more than 1,200 charging cycles will also receive a free replacement battery.

Husqvarna Professional Products is contacting all known purchasers directly.
