Children’s clothing recall overview:

  • Who: Bentex recalled nine Disney-themed children’s clothing sets.
  • Why: The sets contain ink with excess levels of lead.
  • Where: The children’s clothing recall is active in the United States.

Bentex issued a recall of nine Disney-themed children’s clothing sets as they are made with ink that contains lead in excess of federal limits.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website posted the children’s clothing recall Nov. 23. It applies to about 87,000 Bentex children’s clothing sets in nine different Disney styles, including Minnie and Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.

Bentex recalled the sets because the textile ink contains lead levels that exceed the federal lead paint ban and the federal lead content ban, posing a lead poisoning hazard.

“Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues,” the children’s clothing recall states.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Clothing recall says customers can return products for refund

Consumers should immediately take the recalled children’s clothing sets away from children and contact Bentex for instructions on how to return or dispose of the items to receive a full refund, the recall states.

The recalled sets were sold at T.J. Maxx, DD’s/Ross, Burlington, Airforce Exchange Service and other stores nationwide and online at amazon.com from November 2021 through August 2022 for between $5 and $25.

Earlier this month, the William Carter Co. (Carter’s) recalled its Infant’s Yellow Footed Fleece Pajamas with Animal Graphic after consumers found small metal wire pieces in the pajamas.
