Recall Issued for Gummy Vitamins Over Metallic Mesh

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall notice for vitafusion gummy vitamins, including kid’s products after the manufacturer discovered metallic mesh in certain lots.

On Tuesday, Church & Dwight Co., Inc recalled seven types of gummy vitamins after an investigation into consumer reports of mesh in the products. The recalled gummy vitamins include:

  • vitafusion Kids Melatonin, 50 count
  • vitafusion FiberWell, 220 count
  • vitafusion SleepWell, 250 count
  • vitafusion MultiVites, 150 count
  • vitafusion Melatonin, 44 count
  • vitafusion Melatonin, 140 count
  • vitafusion FiberWell, 90 count

The gummy vitamin recall is limited to products manufactured between Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, 2020. The products were sold in-store and online between Nov. 13 and April 9. Recalled products can be identified using their Universal Product Code (UPC) and Lot Code. The UPC and lot codes subject to this recall can be found on the FDA’s notice

While no injuries have been reported, metallic mesh can cause digestive tract damage, warns the agency, and consumers should not consume any of the recalled gummy vitamins.

Consumers can contact Church & Dwight’s customer service line at 1 (800) 981-4710 for a full refund. After contacting the manufacturer for a refund, consumers should throw out the recalled gummy vitamins.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other recalls in the interest of consumer safety. While no legal action related to this gummy vitamin recall has been reported, manufacturer Chruch & Dwight has been accused of falsely marketing certain products. Indeed, just last year, a federal judge refused to dismiss a class action claiming that Church & Dwight falsely advertised certain multivitamins as “complete.”

My name is Alicia Tamura and I bought the gummies. It was a big bottle and I took all of them. It said to take 4 to 5 everyday. I did not get the recall letter until after I had taken them all. Like a couple weeks after I finished them. And they where purchased in that time frame so I got a letter in the mail..I have had an upper and lower gii done and also a stomach emptying test to see if my food is digesting properly, because when I did the upper and lower GI when they looked at the x-rays afterwards there was liquid and small parts of food that should not be there. So they thought I might have a problem there but it came back fine no problems. I wake up every morning nauseous and feel horrible in the morning time. I take nausea pills and they don’t even help. I don’t have an appetite and I have to force myself to eat and even though I take a prebiotic and fiber pills everyday and I still feel horrible and have digestive issues. I don’t know but I am miserable and I don’t know what else would of done this to me except eating all of those it was a bottle of like 2 hundred something so alot of them. I never feel good anymore and I’m frustrated and depressed and want to know if I can sue them…idk if I can prove it was from them but so far its nothing else and something is affecting me and it’s horrible. Please tell me where I can get help to find out if I could sue them!

I have been taking the Fiber Well vitamins for years. I do have a recall bottle. I have had digestive issues since January. Have been seeing a gi dr since February. Had upper and lower gi’s with inflamed stomach lining. Have tried all different kinds of meds. The most expensive one seems to help a little. My worst time of day is morning usually. I pray this isn’t my new normal. Please provide us with some answers.
