Recall Alert: Target Recalls 45K Infant Rompers, 61K Teethers For Choking Hazard

Nationwide recalls have been issued for a pair of infant products sold at Target after reports of choking hazards: Cat & Jack Baby Hearts Ears Rompers and B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank, plastic infant teethers.

Infant Romper Recalls

The hearts on Cat & Jack Baby Heart Ears Rompers may detach, posing a choking risk to infants and children, warns the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in its notice to consumers about the recall posted Wednesday.

Nearly 45,000 of the rompers were sold at Target between November 2020 and February 2021. The recalled rompers came in newborn through 24-month sizes and retailed for approximately $13.

The recalled rompers are grey with red trim. They have hearts on the hood and knees.

The CPSC says in its notice that Target received 40 reports of the hearts on the knees of the romper detaching, including one report of a child choking on the detached heart.

Consumers with questions about the recalled infant rompers can contact Target at 800-440-0680 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, daily or online at www.target.com using the “Recall” tab.

More Than 61K Teethers Recalled

Another Target infant product has been subject to recall, according to a CPSC notice issued Wednesday. Manufacturer Battat recalled B. toys Light-Up Firefly Teether Glowy Chews – Firefly Frank, plastic infant teethers.

Approximately 61,000 teethers were sold at Target stores across the United States, with another 210 sold in Canada. The recalled teethers were sold from July 2019 through February 2021 for between $6 and $10 both in Target stores and on the retailer’s website.

The colorful teethers shaped like a firefly and are blue, green, and red and light up when shaken, says the CPSC notice. The wings on the teethers can detach, warns CPSC, posing a choking hazard.

Battat recalled the teethers after receiving 14 reports of the wings breaking off, including one report of a child choking on the broken piece.

Consumers with questions about the recalled teethers can contact Battat toll-free at 844-963-2479 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at recalls@battatco.com, or online at www.battatco.com under the “Recalls” tab.

Consumers are urged not to use these products. The recalled products can be returned to any Target location for a full refund.
