wayfair bedA Wayfair class action lawsuit claims that consumers were exposed to bed bugs in infested headboards and mattresses knowingly sold and shipped by the company.

The Wayfair class action lawsuit says the online retailer continued to sell infested furniture items to consumers despite their knowledge of the bed bug infestation.

The lead plaintiff argues that the company did nothing to eradicate the bed bugs or to warn consumers about the problem, ultimately selling the affected items for two years after the defendant became aware of the problem.

The Wayfair bed bug class action lawsuit also states that the infested items are still for sale.

As pointed out in the Wayfair class action lawsuit, bed bugs are insects that feed on human blood.

These bugs can be located in bed frame cracks, in loose wallpaper, or even behind picture frames.

Anyone whose home or furniture becomes infested with bed bugs requires comprehensive fumigation and possible destruction of the contaminated furniture.

The Wayfair bed class action lawsuit also alleges that any buyer who has had to cope with bed bugs deals with social stigma and lost sleep.

The Wayfair class action lawsuit says that bed bugs, which were a surprise to consumers who purchased headboards and mattresses from Wayfair, became the buyer’s problem even though Wayfair knew about the issue as early as 2016.

The lead plaintiff in that Wayfair class action lawsuit turns to online reviews and comments about affected products, including fabric headboards.

Those reviews indicate that consumers across the country not only experienced bed bugs upon arrival of their new furniture piece, but that Wayfair was contacted in these cases and therefore knew about the problem.

In their online reviews and complaints, many of these consumers state that even when Wayfair offered a refund that the consumer still had to fumigate their entire home.

Bed bugs are difficult to identify until they have begun their feeding cycle, but can infest an entire home if the resident does not catch the problem quickly.

The plaintiff in the Wayfair class action lawsuit says he notified the company as soon as he discovered bed bugs. He received an apology and a 10 percent off coupon for a future order in response.

The Wayfair bed bugs class action lawsuit alleges that the company had plenty of reason to believe that certain headboards and other bedding items were infested with bed bugs due to the volume of consumer calls and complaints.

However, the Wayfair class action lawsuit says the company failed to disclose the risk of bed bugs or hire exterminators to treat the furniture, forcing the consumer to cope with this problem and bear the costs.

The Wayfair class action lawsuit seeks to represent a nationwide Class, an Illinois Class, and a consumer fraud multi-state Class of buyers who obtained any bed component from Wayfair that was infested with bed bugs.

The Wayfair class action lawsuit seeks injunctive relief, declaratory judgment, attorneys’ fees, actual damages, profit disgorgements, damages, and restitution associated with allegedly deceptive business practices surrounding the sale of headboards, mattresses, and bed frames.

The plaintiffs are represented by Katrina Carroll, Kyle A. Shamberg, and Nicholas R. Lange of Lite DePalma Greenberg LLC and Tiffany M. Yiatras of Consumer Protection Legal LLC.

The Wayfair Bed Bugs Class Action Lawsuit is Ronald Gorny v. Wayfair Inc., Case No. 1:18-cv-08259, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

I got Bella Oriental Multicolor Area Rug delivered from AllModern on 5/5/2020, and I’m seeing bedbugs now in my home. I’m posting here because AllModern is a Wayfair company. It HAS to be the rug, because I’ve been quarantining at home for 2 month now, with no visitors or any other bedbug infestation prone purchases at all. What should I do? Please help.

    1. Marisa says:

Bought a Bedford tufted upholstered headboard in early January 2020. Bugs showed up in late March. I read the reviews before buying and did see a comment about the bug problem.

My daughter and I spent a couple days removing the carpet in her room. It’s been a very stressful ordeal. And where fearful that we properly didn’t remedy the infestation.

Thanks Wayfair for your greediness. We will live in our home, fearing that will be fighting infestations every year.

I have read ALL of these comments, but what I don’t see is the brand. I just purchased a
    Pesmes Upholstered Panel Headboard

by Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse and want to know if this type/brand has been found to be compromised! I have yet to bring it in my house as I am afraid to! Please share brand/type so that others will know what to stay away from.

I also had a fabric headboard delivered from Wayfair in August 2019. And yep, full of bed bugs. Contacted Wayfair and they are supposed to be refunding us the cost of the bed and also the extermination fee. I suggest you contact them as well. Good luck

      What brand headboard?

We bought an upholstered platform bed for our son in September. We were looking to buy a similar bed for our daughter when I came across a review about bed bugs! I had noticed little rust marks on my sons bedding and couldn’t figure out what it was from. I ran upstairs and unzipped his headboard and there they were. Bed bugs! We discovered them on December 26. The rest of our holiday was a disaster! The pest control company confirmed that yes, the bugs were coming from inside the headboard! Wayfair did refund us for the bed but we are still waiting to see if we we’ll get a full $1200 reimbursement for the extermination of our entire home. We are currently living out of bins and garbage bags while awaiting the approval from pest control to move everything back in. Disaster!

I purchased a upholstered headboard back in May or June 2017 that was infested with bedbugs. Brand was Baxton Home studios and they sell to Target as well. Wayfair did offer complete refund for bed, throw rug and linens and also paid 75% of my exterminating fee. They should’ve paid the total amount and probably would’ve if I pushed it. They didn’t argue about it because there were complaints online already about bedbugs being in headboards. They immediately offered refund and didn’t even ask for proof with pics or exterminator bills. Thats because they knew it was a problem already. Because Wayfair sources furniture from multiple manufacturers just like Amazon sources items from multiple places it could happen anytime and anywhere. It lies within the manufacturer to make. sure QC in their warehouses are up to par. My item came from China however I ordered Hooker brand furniture, which is a high end brand from Wayfair as well, and another upholstered headboard at same time as I purchased infested one and there was no issue with that one. The Hooker item also came from China but another warehouse, because of different companies, and it was fine. Wayfair is completely responsible just for the simple fact that they continue to sell the brands that have had known problems rather than dropping them for their substandard warehouse QC

I also purchased in October of 2018, a headboard from Wayfair that was infested with bed bugs. We just found the bugs surfacing (July 2019)The bed bugs took 9 months to surface. I found out this is common as they can be dormant for up to a year without feeding. This has truly been a nightmare! Ours was a fabric , tufted head board with the company name of Zipcode designs. I too was told by wayfair that they were sorry and tried to offer a discount coupon. If you read the reviews this has been going on since at least 2015. I will never purchase another item from Wayfair and tell everyone I can about the intentional deception by Wayfair to their consumers.

You brought those bed bugs in from somewhere else. Bed bugs don’t take 9 months to surface. They take 7 weeks from the moment the eggs hatch. You would have noticed them in your bed on your furniture wherever you are long before 9 months! You know you can bed bugs anywhere. you can pick them up at movie theaters, coffee shops, being in someone’s home who has them but doesn’t know they have them. If you had spotted bugs 3 to 4 weeks later after buying the furniture maybe they could have come from the company but honestly it doesn’t take that long for bed bugs to appear.

Just found a horrible infestation of bed bugs in our headboard purchased from Wayfair. Exterminator comes tomorrow. Have pictures. This has been a nightmare.

    1. Carolyn says:

I don’t see the company name anywhere in this article and I recently purchased a fabric platform bed from Wayfair. If you know the brand please post. Thanks!
