Home Run Inn Frozen Foods has issued a recall for approximately 13,099 pounds of its Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza product over concerns it was contaminated with metal.

The recalled Home Run Inn pizzas were produced June 6, come in 33.5-ounce cartons, and have a best-by date of Dec. 3, 2022, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Sunday.

The FSIS says the potential metal contamination was discovered after it was notified that Home Run Inn had received “several consumer complaints” from individuals who found metal in the pizza.

No confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injuries connected to recall

There have been no confirmed reports so far of injuries or any adverse reactions as a result of consuming the recalled pizza, according to the Home Run Inn recall.

The FSIS is advising consumers to contact their healthcare providers if they are concerned they may have suffered an injury or illness after consuming the recalled pizza.

Distributors and retailers have also been urged not to continue selling the recalled Home Run Inn pizzas and that they should either be tossed out or returned to their original place of purchase.

Didn’t know that there was a recall until I tried to complain to the company. Finally found a pizza the whole family likes and my son just found a piece of plastic in his slice.
