Top Class Actions viewers are reportedly receiving checks in the mail from the HP printer firmware class action settlement and the Experian data breach class action settlement.

Experian Data Breach Settlement Checks

Our readers are receiving settlement checks worth up to $2,744 from an Experian data breach settlement.

The Experian data breach class action brought claims regarding a 2015 data breach that reportedly compromised the information of around 15 million consumers. The data breach reportedly involved names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, military ID numbers, passport numbers, and other information.

Experian agreed to pay $22 million to resolve the claims against them but did not admit wrongdoing in regards to the settlement.

The settlement benefitted consumers who received an Experian data breach notice in October 2015. Eligible Class Members were estimated to receive up to $40 in a default time award and two years of free credit monitoring. Reimbursement was reportedly available for out-of-pocket costs (up to $10,000) and time ($20 per hour, up to 7 hours).

The settlement was granted final approval on May 29, 2019. The deadline to file a claim with the Experian data breach class action settlement was April 11, 2019.

Settlement Class Members in the Experian data breach class action are represented by Tina Wolfson and Robert Ahdoot of Ahdoot & Wolfson PC, and Daniel S. Robinson of Robinson Calcagnie Inc.

The Experian Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit is In re: Experian Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 8:15-cv-01592, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

HP Printer Firmware Settlement Checks

Our readers are also receiving settlement checks from the HP printer firmware resolution worth as much as $164.20.

Plaintiffs in the HP printer firmware class action lawsuit claimed that HP printers contained firmware called “Dynamic Security” which made it impossible for consumers to use non-HP ink cartridges. When consumers attempted to use other brands of printer ink, they were allegedly given a fake error message.

HP agreed to pay $1.5 million to resolve the claims against them, although they did not admit any wrongdoing.

The settlement benefitted consumers who owned certain HP OfficeJet or OfficeJet Pro printers between March 1, 2015 and Dec. 31, 2017 and who experienced issues when using a non-HP ink cartridge. Eligible consumers who filed a claim were estimated to receive $100 and $150, although payments have seemingly been slightly above those estimates.

The settlement was given final approval on April 25, 2019. The deadline to file a claim with the HP printer firmware class action settlement was March 8, 2019.

Settlement Class Members are represented by attorneys from Girard Gibbs LLP, Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC, and Joseph Saveri Law Firm Inc.

The HP Printer Firmware Class Action Lawsuit is In re: HP Printer Firmware Update Litigation, Case No. 5:16-cv-05820-EJD, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division.

  5. JESSICA JOURIA says:

I qualified as I was told by Experian that my social security was affected and compromised. I submitted all the required proof and even sent receipts for expenses occurred due to the breach that impacted my credit. I received nothing…no word no check nada.

  6. Ercella Jarvis says:

It is not worth it to even be apart of these claims, rarely do the people who are personally affected by these breaches, or whatever their case may be receive just or fair compensation for it. These Lawyer’s pray on people, the go find an issue an then appeal to those affected a corporation it an make it sounds like we deserve justice an compensation an so on, knowing they don’t have a leg to stand on without the consumers coming forward, an when we do, they know that they are the only one’s who is going to be walking away compensated with Millions, an the consumers lucky if they get $8… I’ve been notified 3 times now on different cases an most recent one being Equifax cyberattack an botj mine as well as my husband’s info was leaked. But now they say funds awarded might not be enough to cover everyone an will be a first come, first serve basis, or we can get a couple years free of credit monitoring service by the very company (Equifax) who allowed our info to be leaked.. umm no thanks!! YET THOSE LAWYERS WALKED AWAY WITH 77.5 MILLION… LMAO yeah okay! That’s so wrong.

    1. Ercella says:

Sorry for my poor grammar, my pitty Luna was all over me wanting to go for a walk. So no need to be grammar policing me..lol
I did see if there were any way I could edit my comment, but there wasn’t.

  7. Sandy J says:

I was affected by the breach also they sent me proof and was told I would get a check in the mail because I have my own monitoring system .I have not heard or received any information since

  8. Paula Burdette says:

i also went on experian app and they said i qualify for the breech i also got letter from them cant find at present time Where is my check I pay for my own monitoring

  9. Luella R Carter says:

iI did not receive a check from either off the law suits.

  10. Rita Plummer says:

They sent a notice in the mail. I gave them information. If your social security number was used, you were apart of the settlement pool. It was an option to show proof and receipts..
