woman in hidingAccording to a recent lawsuit filed by two unnamed young women against Jeffrey Epstein, the now deceased sexual predator, may have used his wealth and power to exploit, abuse, and assault financially vulnerable women. This lawsuit is one of several sexual assault cases pending against Epstein’s estate.

Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 v. Jeffrey Epstein

According to a report by the Miami Herald, plaintiffs Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 filed their lawsuit against the estate of Jeffrey Epstein on Aug. 15, 2019 and are seeking $100 million in financial compensation. Victims in sexual assault cases often use pseudonyms due to the personal and intimate nature of the crimes alleged to have been committed against them.

According to the Jane Does’ lawsuit, the young women were both initially approached by an unnamed woman referred to as Sue Roe while they were working as hostesses at an establishment in New York called The Coffee Shop. Jane Doe 1 claims that in June 2004, she was approached at work by Roe and offered hundreds of dollars in cash if she agreed to give Epstein a massage in his mansion. Jane Doe 2 says she was approached by Roe a few days later and offered the same opportunity.

Both women accepted Roe’s offer, after being assured that the massages would be brief and would not involve any unwanted touching. As both young women were struggling financially, they claim they were excited about the opportunity. However, this excitement quickly dissipated.

According to Jane Doe 1, Epstein became aggressive while she massaged him, eventually forcefully groping her while masturbating. After she was paid the hundreds of dollars she had been promised, Roe allegedly offered Jane Doe 1 the opportunity to make even more money if she agreed to scout out other women to massage Epstein. Jane Doe 1 refused.

Jane Doe 2 claims that her experience with Epstein was similar. After being assured by Roe that Epstein would not touch her, Jane Doe 2 claims that she was ordered by Epstein to undress and was then assaulted and penetrated by him.

According to both Jane Does, Epstein and Roe deliberately planned these assaults and lured the women in under false pretenses. While the women believed that they were simply being offered the opportunity to give Epstein a massage in exchange for money, they claim that they were really being lured into a sex trafficking scheme.

Both women claim to have suffered lasting damages from their experiences with Epstein, including depression, anxiety, anger, nightmares, and flashbacks. Additionally, due to the news coverage of Epstein’s crimes, the women claim they are unable to avoid being constantly reminded of their assaults. They are seeking damages of at least $100 million for their experiences.

Filing Sexual Assault Cases

Victims who file sexual assault cases may be able to collect compensation for their pain, suffering, lasting physical or psychological injuries, and other costs. Even in cases such as Epstein’s, where the alleged perpetrator is deceased, victims may still be able to collect compensation from the predator’s estate.

The Jane Does’ Sexual Assault Case is Case No: 1:19-cv-07675, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
