Carbquik Mug Cake Undeclared Milk Recall Overview:

  • Who: Tova Industries has voluntarily recalled a batch of its Carbquik Mug Cake Double Chocolate Chunk product.
  • Why: The recall was initiated after Tevo discovered the product contained undeclared milk.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Tova Industries is voluntarily recalling a batch of its Carbquik Mug Cake after discovering the product contained undeclared milk.

The affected product is Tova’s Carbquik Mug Cake Double Chocolate Chunk, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Apr. 7.

Tova says around 1,700 packs of the product were distributed nationwide through a mailing service using an online retailer.

The recalled Carbquik Mug Cake Double Chocolate Chunk product comes in stand-up pouches and contains six individually packaged portions per pouch, according to the recall.

Consumers can identify the product through its sell-by date of July 26, 2022, UPC code of 11283149263 and a lot code of 02212071B.

Tova says the undeclared milk was discovered during an allergen review, but that it has not received any reports of illness connected to the recall.

The source of the undeclared milk was from the product’s chocolate chips, which were discovered to contain less than 1% milk.

Tova’s Carbquik Mug Cake Double Chocolate Chunk Lacks Milk Allergen Warning

Tova says that, since the product does not contain a milk allergen warning on its packaging, that it removed it from circulation starting on Feb. 23.

The company warns that individuals who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk can “run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they were to consume the recalled mug cakes.

Individuals who do not have a milk allergy, meanwhile, are in no danger of suffering a health risk by consuming the product, according to the recall notice.

Consumers who want more information about the recall or information on how to return the product or get a refund can contact Tova directly by phone at 502-267-7333.

A similar recall was initiated last month by Wilton Industries, which recalled its Ready to Build Chocolate Cookie Bunny Hutch Kits after discovering they contained undeclared milk

Undeclared milk was also the reason for a January recall initiated by Seviroli Foods for its Aplenty Rotini with Plant Based Bolognese meal kits.
