Skechers Toning Shoe Settlement Checks in the Mail!

By Kimberly Mirando

Skechers toning shoe settlementGood news for everyone who filed a valid claim for the Skechers toning show class action settlement: refund checks were mailed on Friday, according to an update from the Federal Trade Commission.

The FTC announced that over 509,000 checks were mailed to consumers who bought toning shoes from Skechers USA and filed a valid Claim Form before the April 18 deadline. The checks are part of a class action settlement deal with the FTC to settle charges that Skechers used deceptive ads that falsely claimed its toning shoes could help people lose weight and strengthen muscles.

Consumers were eligible to claim between $20 and $80 in refunds from the class action settlement.

If you submitted a claim, keep an eye on your mailbox this week for a check. Checks must be cashed on or before October 10, 2013.

Congratulations to our Top Class Actions readers who have been following the Skechers toning shoe class action lawsuits and resulting settlement with us since 2010! If you received a check, we’d love to hear how much you got in the comment section below.

The FTC screwed me! They had sent me a letter saying that because I didn’t have any proof for the amount shoes I had purchased I would be getting $200. When the checks were mailed out I waited and waited and waited. Nothing!!! I sent them a certified letter requesting payment along with the letter they had sent me. Still, nothing!! They didn’t have the balls to respond!! Chickens!!! The courts should make them respond to consumers when they take the time to the time to write them. I just don’t think FTC was fair to the consumers.

I would like to get involved with Let’s Fight These Guys and get after these people. I bought a pair of these shoes and fell in them. The store would not take them back and my claim got denied because I filed for a Walborne settlement. Upsetting!!

  7. Jeanette says:

I have not received any check. I filed in July last year. A couple of our friends in Hawaii already received theirs.
Does anyone know what number to call to inquire when they are going to mail settlement check ?

#221 I am in Las Vegas and my last name is at the beginning of the alphabet, so I know that is not the case. :)

Hello guys! Have not gotten the Facebook page up yet but on Friday I met with a well known attorney and a close friend that takes these cases on. She said this is 100% wrong and unethical and she is doing some research into our options. In the meantime, she also suggested that we bombard both the FTC and this BMC company with letters. She confirmed what #213 said about this BMC being the bad guy and not the FTC but what they are doing is against the law and they are getting themselves into hot water. I am guessing FTC knows nothing about this but the letters will bring it to their attention. Hopefully with enough letters FTC will handle it and get us our checks before this gets worse. If they do not reply to these letters with the checks we were denied, we will start a class action lawsuit. I have yet to put the Facebook page because she, the attorney, advised me to wait. We have to try to get more of us together, so here is my idea, if anyone has any extra time we need to find other sites like this and put the link to this page. I have just been copying and pasting my comments from here on other sites. We need more traffic to this page. This is the best way to do so. As to anyone who needs the addresses here they are:

    Federal Trade Commission
    600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
    Washington, DC 20580

    BMC
    18675 Lake Drive East
    Chanhassen, MN 55317

I am sending a followup letter to the FTC and I will now send a letter to BMC, let’s bombard them with letters! They are going against what the court has ordered and there could be big repercussions for this! Keep me updated guys on your status of if you have sent letters and on what dates so I can keep a log and bring it back to this attorney to see how many we have to fight this. It is rightfully due to us and they are just getting themselves and their company into hot water! WE WILL BEAT THIS!

I sent one of the lawyers a letter, no response. I submitted my claim, received a confirmation number, never received a denial of claim, and still no check. It will be interesting to see if they just ran out of money-what letter does your last name begin with, what state do you live in, zip code, etc. There had to be some system of mailing out the checks in force. I am interested in pursuing this further, #218-sign me up!!
