Samsung TV Defect Class Action Lawsuit
By Kimberly Mirando
According to the Samsung TV class action lawsuit, “The Televisions are defectively designed and/or use defective materials because normal operation and usage of the Televisions exposes the capacitors…to excessive heat and/or excessive voltage, which, in turn, causes the capacitors to fail.”
The Samsung TV class action lawsuit further charges the company with knowing about the design defect but failing to recall the Televisions to fix the problem, and refusing to pay for labor or diagnostic expenses for consumers who’s TVs manifested the defect more than a year after purchase. As a result, consumers “have paid and continue to incur substantial parts and labor fees to repair their defectively designed Televisions,” the class action lawsuit states.
The Samsung TV class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all consumers who purchased a Samsung TV in California from January 1, 2006 to the present. It is seeking restitution, damages and other relief for violation of the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, breach of warranty, and violation of the Unfair Competition Law.

My Samsung T240HD tv smoked; results, no picture, but still has sound. I am an electrician; potential fire hazard?
I also purchaed a 50″ DLP TV in May 2006 and a 42″ Plasma TV in May 2008. I paid two Samsung TV for $ 6,650.00 The life of Samsung TV broke down between 2-2.5 years. I had expected someone to law suit on samsung. So, I did not threw out two defected Samsung TVs.I will never buy Samsung again! How can I join..
I purchased a 46″ Samsung in April 2008. In January 2010, started getting the clicking, tv not turning off correctly. I had to pay $324 to get the motherboard replaced. No tv should break within two years, and what disturbs me is Samsung does not want to admit something was wrong. That is what makes me not want to purchase another Samsung.
we ‘re getting a bad spot on the screen that intermittently is a red dot then a blue dot. It’s really distracting as it near the middle of the screen. Ours is a plasma. Can we be a part of this suit, we’re in Illinois?
I would like also to join, How do I go about it? I also have the same problem right now with my Samsung and could not get any assistance of course from Samsung.
How can I join? I’m having the same problem with my 46″ Samsung.
i’m having the same problem with my samsung tv. how can i join this law suit.
Bought a Samsung LCD 46″ in 2008. The capacitors have already been replaced, and are once again cycling on/off when I turn the TV on. You can replace the capacitors, but it only masks an issue with excess heat/poor power supply. I did a Google search and cannot find out how to join the class in this suit. Send me an invite!
My46″ ” Samsung TV is less than 3 years old and just today starting cycling on and off. We can’t watch it at all – we have to leave it unplugged. Can’t wait to see how much it’s going to cost to repair.
I live in Florida I want to start one for Florida residents too. How do I do that I had one that cost me 200.00 for the blown capister. Please let me know how to file one here!!!!
