Mercedes-Benz Transmission Control Defect Class Action Overview:
- Who: Plaintiff Keisha Corona filed a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz USA LLC.
- Why: Mercedes-Benz allegedly concealed a dangerous transmission control unit defect in some of its vehicles.
- Where: The Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.
Mercedes-Benz USA LLC is facing a class action lawsuit in the wake of a recall of certain vehicles allegedly affected by a transmission control unit defect. The recall includes 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 vehicles.
Plaintiff Keisha Corona alleges Mercedes-Benz was made aware of a potential transmission control unit defect in July 2018 but failed to warn consumers about the issue. An investigation allegedly found that a specific electrical component inside the control unit may not have been glued into place.
Corona believes that Mercedes-Benz knew about the defect based on prerelease testing, repair data, replacement part sales data, consumer complaints and other information but failed to issue a timely recall of the affected vehicles, according to the Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit.
When Mercedes-Benz finally commenced the recall in February 2021, it was very limited in nature, the lawsuit states. Corona alleges that Mercedes-Benz knew that the transmission control unit defect affected more vehicles than those included in the recall.
“Despite such knowledge, MBUSA failed to disclose and actively concealed the Class Defect from Class Members and the public and, in fact, marketed Class Vehicles as being safe, reliable and of excellent quality,” the Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit alleges.
Mercedes-Benz Class Action Says Transmission Control Defect Extremely Dangerous
The transmission control defect can allegedly cause a vehicle to unexpectedly stall or shift into neutral while in motion, increasing the risk of a collision. A driver who experiences an unexpected shift into neutral may be unable to safely pull over to the side of the road. The sudden decrease in acceleration can startle other drivers and increase the likelihood of an accident.
Corona says that owners and lessees of Mercedes-Benz vehicles affected by the transmission control defect are unknowingly driving “potentially ticking time bombs.”
The Mercedes transmission control defect has also decreased the value of class members’ vehicles, the lawsuit says.
Corona filed the Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit on behalf of herself and a class of all current and former owners or lessees of any 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 vehicle purchased in California.
A Mercedes-Benz class action lawsuit filed earlier this year alleges certain Metris and Sprinter vehicles have defects that may increase the risk of a crash.

PLEASE ADD ME
My 2018 GLC 4matic keeps stalling after the traction control light turns on and it tells me something is in failure. I’ve been in the midst of busy traffic where I was in an absolute panic trying to get over safely to the side of the road. I specifically came searching to see if there was a class action related to this, I had a feeling it wasn’t just me….
I have a 2022 GLA AMG, 8 months old with 6k miles and it has stalled twice on the freeway (going 75mph) in the fast last. “Transmission Malfunction” warning in dash, looses all power. VERY DANGEROUS! Mercedes Benz service said both times it needed an “software update” and they saw no problem!!! This is a huge safety hazard!
I have a E300 d AMG Line Sedan in the UK. I bought the car over a year ago from new and ki have had thks issue a dozen times when I was driving, the latest incident caused an RTC (Road Traffic AccidentO). The car is still. under warranty and I took it to showroom where they checked it and confirmed this problem bit they need to order parts from Germany. I believe MBUK k ew about this issue and did not advise me and it has contributed to RTC. I need to be added to this action representing UK for I never heard of this being so global. I am going to address this directly with the dealer this week and inform my car insurer to start a claim against MBUK for damages. How can you help me? I can fund the claim under my car insurance, but will need arguments and more info on the issue.
I have a 2019 GLA 250 and my car put me in neutral and popped up “Transmission Malfunction, Stop”. I was able to immediately stop and turned off the engine and restarted it . This could have been a very big safety issues if I wasnt able to pull over. Please add me.
I have a new GLA 250 with 3k miles. Slowing down, there was a vibrating noise, when you turn the steering to 90° angle there was also vibrating and a similar noise and the vehicle multiple times shifted into neutral. I was driving it. Initially, Mercedes indicates that the valve housing needed to be replaced, but after replacement additional error messages appeared and the situation did not improve. They have had my vehicle over two weeks and now the notes to me indicate that they’re not really sure and they are replacing the transmission. I have a lot of concerns about what else might be wrong with his vehicle as well as the potential resale issues now at hand along with future safety concerns.
Yes..Just putchased 2009 B200 60 000 miles / like new ! Drove it for 2 days- no codes – no problems – all of the sudden went into a limp mode ! In the shop now for over a week – difficulties getting a part !( TCM unit )..Unbelivable ! 100% there should be a recall of TCM !! WITH SO MANY CASES OF THE SAME PROBLEM
.And yes it is A SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE !!
Yes. My vehicle with less than 29,000 miles, fastidiously maintained, service d only at Mercedes Benz Dealerships, slipped into neutral, and recently fell into limp mode on heavy traffic 6 lane interstate highway bridge , nearly causing a horrible accident. I am in need of any attorney bc the service dept at Mercedes Benz claims I had bad luck and through no fault of my own the cylinder 1 lost 70% compression so I must pay between $12.5 thousand dollars and Up to $25,000 for repairs. On a excellent condition Mercedes’ Benz w infant engine mileage of only 28,000!!!
I owned a ML 320 model year 2001 with transmission problem.Unable to start and now parked on my driveway.
I need to join any class action Re, the car year model if any.

I want to be added to class Acton lawsuit- this issue happened to me.
