Harley-Davidson recall overview:

  • Who: Harley-Davidson is recalling 88,039 motorcycles, including specific models like the 2024–2026 FLTRX and FLHX and 2025–2026 FXBR and FLFB.
  • Why: A defect may cause oil to eject from the motorcycle, increasing the risk of injury.
  • Where: The Harley-Davidson recall is active in the United States.

Harley-Davidson is recalling nearly 90,000 motorcycles due to a defect that could potentially cause oil ejection, posing an injury risk.

The Harley-Davidson recall was announced following the discovery of a problem with the breather port, which may become blocked. This blockage can lead to pressure building inside the crankcase. If the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil could be expelled from the fill spout, creating a hazard.

The recall affects 88,039 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, including select models, such as the 2024–2026 FLTRX and FLHX and 2025–2026 FXBR and FLFB, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Dealers to inspect and repair Harley-Davidson motorcycles at no cost

In response to this defect, Harley-Davidson says its dealers will conduct inspections of the breather ports and address any blockages at no cost to the motorcycle owners.

Notification letters are expected to be sent to motorcycle owners by May 11, according to the NHTSA.

For further information regarding the Harley-Davidson recall, affected motorcycle owners are encouraged to reach out to Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. This line is available for any inquiries or concerns related to the recall process.

Harley-Davidson says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

  1. Jason Brdar says:

    Been riding Harley’s for over 38 years. Evo, 88, 96. 103.
Bought 23 street glide anniversary 114. Reliable bike not terrible. I have to listen to music when I ride. I can’t stand how the engine sounds. Not trading it almost paid for 35k plus stage 1 and tax and all the junk fees. 40k SMH what a joke never again man. I’m searching for a 90s Heritage with a carb and 1340. Maybe not as fast as 114 but it looks and sounds like a Harley that’s all that matters to me. Disappointed in the direction of the company. A lot of guys feel like me and want the older stuff. Look what a mint 93 Heritage is going for!! 15 to 17k
Hell the bike was almost that new. But I will
Pay it. Wanna feel like I did on the V twins. Not the M8 new age stuff.

  2. Ray Sulich says:

I’ve owned several motorcycles over my 62 years on this planet. Harley’s are an American product that raises your heartbeat in either one way or the other, no in between. Of the 7 or so bikes I’ve owned, Harley’s were as reliable if not more so than the Honda’s, Triumph’s, Suzuki’s, Kawasaki’s I’ve owned. They attract discourse because not everyone can afford one because they are very expensive. I ride only Harley’s these days because 1. I can afford them 2. Reasons Willie G. Davidson have been attributed to have said “when asked why I ride a Harley, I always answer if you have to ask the question you wouldn’t understand the answer. We don’t knock your brand, why knock ours. This seems as if it’s a small quantity of bikes and Harley has introduced a ton of new (to them) technology in their new bikes and sometimes a bug gets through.

  3. Hardin Rich says:

Just keeping up the tradition. What a joke.

  4. Hot Rod says:

Keep it simple stupid Light upgrades Moderat electrical upgrades Never had a problem New Models Overpriced JUNK that only rich olden can afford And ride nowhere

  5. Ed Patronick says:

So it continues. Keep making junk. My last bike was a 96 Dyna. Never a problem. 1340 was a proven power plant, I liked the Retro Dyna Frame. You see they make new stuff now, Bigger is not always better. Shame what the figure heads did to a legendary brand. Will never buy another, for sure nothing new.

  6. Nigel Brown says:

It seems HD are repeatedly misleading buyers/ owners and not being open and honest as my pal and I have Breakouts both with identical catastrophic electrical failures with mine so far costing over £1000 and still not fixed after 5 months! Strange unlucky coincidence or common fault HD probably know all about?

  7. JOHN KAYTON says:

What is a street Bob classed

  8. Jimi Sallmen says:

    I have a 2026 FLHT LIMITED 3
    IS IT RECALLED TOO

  9. Terance C. Ingalls says:

How Stoopid could it be to check oil level while the engine is running

    1. Robert says:

It didn’t imply that it was checking the oil with the engine running. The blockage can cause pressure in the crankcase and it will still be built up after the engine is shut off Removing the dipstick is the only avenue to release the crankcase pressure and the potential danger of it.

    2. Doug Koelfgen says:

      Right!

    3. Kevin says:

They didn’t say with it running. It builds pressure in the cranck case due to a breather port being blocked. This pressure is not relieved for a while after being shut down. As most people warm the engine to operating temperature before checking oil level after an oil change, the pressure will remain high until so.ething relieves it such as opening the system (removing the dipstick).

  10. Ronny Vigil says:

I’m trying to see if I am owed money

    1. Augustine Campbell says:

I went in to Harley on essex street. They told me they detected a few drops of oil somewhere and i had to get a new engine my 2014 Harley fatboy lo. Im still paying for a engine Which cost me over 8 grand
