A2007 Chevrolet Impala federal class action lawsuit claims General Motors’ 2007-2008 Impalas have defective rear spindle rods that cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. The Impala class action goes on to say that even though GM issued an Impala recall for Chevy Impalas that operated as police vehicles, it won’t honor warranties for identical cars owned by customers who aren’t police.

According to the GM/Chevy Impala class action lawsuit:

“The model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas were sold with common defective rear spindle rods that caused and continue to cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. Even though it has issued a recall bulletin for model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas operated as police vehicles, GM has failed to honor its warranties with Plaintiff and the putative class, by failing to correct the manufacturing defect in their vehicles. There are no relevant material differences between police vehicles and class members’ vehicles relating the defective spindle rods.

“The fact that GM moved to fix certain Impalas shows that it knew of the defect. Despite this, GM continued to sell and has refused to honor the warranties on hundreds of thousands of defective and potentially unsafe vehicles.”

“>The Impala defective rear spindle rod class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in the United States who purchased or leased a model year 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala. It is seeking class certification, compensatory damages for Class Members, exemplary damages, and more for Breach of Express Warranty and Injunctive and Declaratory Relief.

Not only having tire wear problems on 08 chevy impala did not mention, radio going out and the clicking in the ac/heater when you turn it off . To many problems with this car.Like I said on earlier post , GM has lost another customer.

Having tire wear problems, three sets of tires ,two alignments back for third alignment said it could not be adjusted anymore. This car is 08 chevy Impala has 58000 miles on it and between 24000 and 58000 has two alinements and two sets of tire.Gm has a problem with this and will not do anything about it,I have bought 4 gm trucks and cars between 1990 -2008.Just lost a customer.

We could get no info from the dealership mechanics (3 of them)) who looked at our 2007 Impala and were “baffled” by how the back tires were worn on the inside without any indication of problems that could cause such. A diagnostic fee of over $100.00 would start us on the road to fixing the problem. I believe it more likely the dealership knows exactly what is causing our problem since it has been known for years with a safety recall of some of the problem cars, but not all. We will join the class action lawsuit, if possible, and not buy another GM car- such a shame the company has so many problems when the car business has been so great for most of a century now…..But when it is time to go, IT IS TIME TO GO, and we the taxpayers should never have had to bail out the company……

Cindy: Don’t know what you mean by “struts,” because the indication here is that the rear spindle rod is the problem. John Macoretta, a Philadelphia lawyer, is one of the lawyers hand the suit. His number is 215-496-0300. His fax is 215-496-6611. Add the cost of new tires and you are out more than $2,000 because of a GMs defective product. I, too, am abandoning ALL GM cars. Good luck.

I own a chevy impala ’08 model. I have to replace 4 tires that I just purchased 11 months ago. Car repair shop is replacing the struts. This is costing me $1700…Yikes

I own a chevy impala ’08 model. I am disgusted that I purchased it as I had to replace tires that where brand new when I bought them only two months ago. I am trying to find any proof of a recall on this vehicle. I feel like I have been ripped off not only by GM, but by the dealership that sold me the car. I feel like they knew about the issue and sold it to me anyway. I will never again buy another GM car. The company needs to take its customers’ safety into consideration!!!! I would like to find out about the status of a lawsuit that was filed on this issue in 2011.

I’ve own GM cars/trucks since 1967. I have a 05-28-03 Detroit Free Press article on my office wall about GM’s new ads and admitting their 1980-1990’s cars had problems. To polsh their tarnished image, they are launched their “The Road to Redemption” campaign. Now this, wheel spindles! I to have returned to my dealer, to which they rebalanced wheels, relignments and in 30,000 miles, I’m replacing the 3rd set of rear tires and have my 3rd relignment. 3 sets of tire in 30,000 miles! Thank you GM for final convincing me to never consider a GM brand again. Why did I keep the article and stil buy GM – just plain dumb on my part!

Took my 2008 Impala for a tire rotation & balancing today. Same tires rotated and balanced, July of this year, no problem at that time. Today 5,000 miles later, inside edge, all tires worn to the point of needing replacement. Did an alignment; was told it needed new “rear camber bolts”, the rear suspension could not be aligned with original factory equipment. Less than 20,000 mile on the tires. I Googled “impala alignment problems” using the dealership WiFi, and found this problem, the class action lawsuit, etc. I kept the tires for photographing. Close to $700.00 put into this vehicle today, tires, alignment, parts, etc. If this is a design and manufacturing flaw will GM be reimbursing this expense? How do we find out the status of this suit?
