A2007 Chevrolet Impala federal class action lawsuit claims General Motors’ 2007-2008 Impalas have defective rear spindle rods that cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. The Impala class action goes on to say that even though GM issued an Impala recall for Chevy Impalas that operated as police vehicles, it won’t honor warranties for identical cars owned by customers who aren’t police.

According to the GM/Chevy Impala class action lawsuit:

“The model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas were sold with common defective rear spindle rods that caused and continue to cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. Even though it has issued a recall bulletin for model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas operated as police vehicles, GM has failed to honor its warranties with Plaintiff and the putative class, by failing to correct the manufacturing defect in their vehicles. There are no relevant material differences between police vehicles and class members’ vehicles relating the defective spindle rods.

“The fact that GM moved to fix certain Impalas shows that it knew of the defect. Despite this, GM continued to sell and has refused to honor the warranties on hundreds of thousands of defective and potentially unsafe vehicles.”

“>The Impala defective rear spindle rod class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in the United States who purchased or leased a model year 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala. It is seeking class certification, compensatory damages for Class Members, exemplary damages, and more for Breach of Express Warranty and Injunctive and Declaratory Relief.

Yea, holly cow. I had a brand new set of top shelf Bridgestones wear to the steel belts on the very inside of the rear tires(the drivers side rear even quicker and exploded in my face while putting air in it),that’s been two weeks ago and my face still hurts and bears the scars. I thought it maybe needing an alignment or shocks and/or struts, my long time shop(mechanic says nothing is wrong. Then I replaced the rear tires again with brand new top shelf tires and literally 3 days later my 17 year old boy was driving it and that infamous drivers side real tire shredded with him going 60 MPH just like the inside center line of the whelk sliced through the sidewall in a perfect cylindrical shape until the tire blew almost causing him to wreck the car. It’s an infamous 2008 Impala SS sold to suckers like me. I’ll never buy another GM vehicle as long as I live and have been an RN for 30 years working at the largest hospital in the TwinCities and will continue to take every opportunity I get to share with my colleagues on the reasons to never purchase a GM product!!!

I bought a 2008 Impala LT 7 years ago. I just bought my 3rd set of tires as the rear tires wear out extremely fast on the inside of the tire I had one blowout on the first set I bought, the next 2 sets wore out but no blowout. Other than the tires I have been happy with my car. Did this lawsuit ever get settled? I would like to get my car fixed once and for all. If I knew this was a problem, I would not of purchased the car

I am so glad I found this. My wife has a 2007 Impala that doesn’t get driven much but it has always eat up tires. AC won’t stay on either.

Hi, My name is Daniel. I currently bought a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. I believe I speak for everyone hear when I say it is the work car Chevrolet has ever built. It keeps breaking down an the alignment is extremely terrible. I’ve already spent about $2,000 on just fixing it, an now I gotta get the Rear Spindle replaced an the whole back end just to fix my alignment. Thanks a lot Chevrolet. I would only recommend this car to my worst enemy. Or maybe a friend as a joke!

We have a 2007 Impala and have always had problems with the rear tires, we buy them and then a year or two later they start making a weird vibrating sound and find out the tires are ruined/uneven tread and cant be fixed without replacing the tires. I did not understand why this kept happening so I googled it and it looks like tons of people have the same issue.

I bought my 2008 impala ltz July 2011 with new Michelin tires. I have had problems with the way it drives. The front end feels like it’s going to shake apart. I have put it in the chevy dealership four times with the same problems…oil pan leak every year ( three times), stability light twice on, front shakes, steering vibrates car hesitates then jerks when you stop then try to accelerate. Inside of tires were worn completely with the left rear driver side being the worst. I was told I need an alignment and a camber kit to correct an alignment issue all at my expense. I drive my car six miles a day five days a week all in town and no highway miles. This is my second impala. The first was a 2004 impala LS which had an ignition switch problem. It would shut off at random times for no reason and wouldn’t start right away leaving me stranded with my two children. It too kept getting oil leaks. I have put a lot of money into repairs that wasn’t covered under warranty.I am so dissatisfied with the impala and the bad services I received from dealership that I will never buy another Chevy vehicle. I will buy foreign cars from now on.

I purchased a 2007 Impala in August of 2007. Because I am disabled and don’t do much driving, my car only has 34K miles on it after 6+ years. The first set of tires lasted 20K miles but were in pretty bad shape when I bought a brand new set of Michelin Primacy 17″ tires at a total cost of $814.83 in March of 2010. All of the sudden, about 2 weeks ago, I noticed my car felt like I was driving in a wind storm every time I drove it. I asked the guy changing my oil what he thought..again..I am disabled..he said that the steel belts were showing on the inside half of both rear tires!. I looked at my tire receipt and saw that I had only driven about 13K miles on tires rated for 60K miles. I took it back yesterday to the Michelin dealer who added the two bolts required to properly align the rear end and also bought two new tires. Total needless cost thanks to GM..$657.39
