A2007 Chevrolet Impala federal class action lawsuit claims General Motors’ 2007-2008 Impalas have defective rear spindle rods that cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. The Impala class action goes on to say that even though GM issued an Impala recall for Chevy Impalas that operated as police vehicles, it won’t honor warranties for identical cars owned by customers who aren’t police.

According to the GM/Chevy Impala class action lawsuit:

“The model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas were sold with common defective rear spindle rods that caused and continue to cause wheel misalignment and premature tire wear. Even though it has issued a recall bulletin for model year 2007 and 2008 Impalas operated as police vehicles, GM has failed to honor its warranties with Plaintiff and the putative class, by failing to correct the manufacturing defect in their vehicles. There are no relevant material differences between police vehicles and class members’ vehicles relating the defective spindle rods.

“The fact that GM moved to fix certain Impalas shows that it knew of the defect. Despite this, GM continued to sell and has refused to honor the warranties on hundreds of thousands of defective and potentially unsafe vehicles.”

“>The Impala defective rear spindle rod class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in the United States who purchased or leased a model year 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Impala. It is seeking class certification, compensatory damages for Class Members, exemplary damages, and more for Breach of Express Warranty and Injunctive and Declaratory Relief.

Tires checked wheels aligned ok went to Florida, Tire on left rear was so bad, 22 k Mi., cords were showing and Firestone wanted me to sign a waivier the tires were so bad. Mr. Goodrench only serviced the car up till then. This was an oil change that Goodwrench would have done. Glad I went Firestone. I could have had a severe blow out on the road.
I am livid, My salesman, after I presented the lawsuit to him says GM is not acknowledgeing.

I bought a used 2007 Impala LT with 36,000 miles on it. Within 30,000 miles the rear tires wore out to a hole on the inside and I had a flat on the freeway. I spent $450 on a set of 80,000 mile-rated tires, had them rotated regularly and the same thing happened in 32,000 miles. They’re ruined. It’s ridiculous.

I’d like to know how to join the class action.

same problem, tires wearing on the rear of car. 3 sets of tires in three years, we thought the tires were defective and charged it to Wal-mart tires. GM needs to fix this ASAP!!!

I have gone through four set of tires and four different Service Department Reps. And they are all on board to giving me the same lame story and advise. They say I have not rotated the tires often enought and that has something to do with the rear tires cupping. The service rep. I spoke with today. I shared with him the Safisfaction Program Bullentin 08032A: http://www.phila.gov/fleet/Warranty%20Recalls/08032A%20bulletin.pdf and even a class action lawsuit addressing this issue: http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/06/30/GM.pdf. He did not budge. I am trying to see how I might support the Plaintiff in the lawsuit. You do the same.

Back tire wore quickly on the inside..We paid a pretty price to have the put a “kit” on them to adjust the alignment…I think GM owes us both that cost a a new set of tires.

I had a 2008 Impala, had tires rotated every 6k miles, and had it aligned twice. Had to buy new tires at 22k miles and still had rough ride and shuddering on the highway, When braking on the highway car shook. Went to get another alignment and was told it could not be aligned. So I traded it in, but was out almost $700 on tires that should have gone 60k miles and went 22k. Why did they do a recall on police cars but not the consumer’s cars? SCANDALOUS RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I too own a 2008 Impala and am experiencing the same exact problem, that my Chevy dealer says does not exist. They told me that my car must have been towed and the tow truck did something to my spindle rods. (My car was never towed). After spending $1,100 dollars on my second set of rear tires that the steel belts were exposed on the inner side of both back ties. I have 32,000 miles on my car. I contacted GM directly I was told that the problem does not exist so I told the woman I went on the internet and read that many people were having the same problem as I, she told me not to beleive everything I read on the internet. So like many of you I cant wait to get rid of this car.

I have been a lifelong GM customer through thick and thin. I even owned stock in the company which is now worthless. This is the absolute last straw! If they don’t do a recall in the next 60 days (by October 15th, 2011), i am getting rid of the car, and buying foreign from now on.
