Walmart recall overview:
- Who: Various frozen pizza brands sold at Walmart and Aldi, including Mama Cozzi’s and Great Value, are being recalled.
- Why: The recall is due to potential Salmonella contamination from FDA-regulated dairy products.
- Where: The recall is active in the United States.
Various meat and poultry products are being recalled due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall affects several frozen pizza products, including Mama Cozzi’s and Great Value brands sold at Aldi and Walmart, respectively.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the recall notice on April 30.
The Walmart recall includes Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Sausage & Cheese Breakfast Pizza and Great Value’s Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, with best buy dates ranging from February to April 2026.
According to the FSIS, these products contain ingredients that may have been contaminated with Salmonella due to the use of dry milk powder that was previously recalled by the FDA.
Walmart recall includes Pork King Pork Rinds
In addition to the frozen pizzas, several other products, including Pork King’s Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds, have also been recalled due to similar concerns. The FSIS was notified by the FDA that multiple establishments received contaminated ingredients, prompting the recall of these products.
The FSIS has advised consumers to check their freezers and refrigerators and discard or return any affected products to the place of purchase.
The recall notice highlights the risk of salmonellosis, a common bacterial foodborne illness that can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within six hours to six days after consumption. The illness typically lasts four to seven days.
The companies have taken steps to ensure consumer safety by removing the affected products from store shelves and are working with suppliers to investigate the issue further.
For more information about the recall, consumers can visit the FSIS website or contact the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854).
The FSIS reports that there have been no confirmed cases of illness related to the recalled products so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions monitors such recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Currently, Walmart is facing a class action lawsuit claiming the company misled consumers by labeling its Bettergoods brand almond, oat and soy milk as “plant-based” despite the products containing additives that do not come from plants.
