Textron Specialized Vehicles has issued a recall of more than 150,000 E-Z-GO PTV golf carts as the power boards on the vehicles can overheat, causing a fire.
The recall was posted to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website on Feb. 10 and applies to Textron E-Z-GO Personal Transportation Vehicles (PTVs) sold in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
According to the recall, the electronic board that powers the USB port on the vehicles can overheat and ignite nearby components, posing a fire hazard.
Textron Specialized Vehicles has already received 30 reports of the electronic board overheating, including two resulting in a fire with property damage. No injuries have been reported so far, the company said.
Textron Specialized Vehicles is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The recalled golf carts were sold at E-Z-GO dealerships nationwide and online via E-Z-GO’s Dealer to Driver program from May 2020 through Nov. 2022 from between $8,200 and $15,700.
Polaris, Honda and Kubota each announced recalls Dec. 1 for certain of their off-road, all-terrain and utility vehicles, respectively.

My dealership is 30 miles away for ezgo recall that costs customer money????
Got my recall notice. Called to get the name of an EZG service rep. Closest is 30 miles away. Refusing to pay the $300 roundtrip transit fee for pick up and return. Totally unfair and shortsighted on their part in light of potential personal injury and property damage exposure.
