KinderMed recall overview:

  • Who: KinderFarms recalled all lots of its KinderMed infant and kids pain and fever oral suspension.
  • Why: The acetaminophen in the medicine could be unstable, leading to illness.
  • Where: The kids medicine recall is effective across the United States.

KinderFarms announced a recall for all lots of its KinderMed infant and kids pain and fever oral suspension due to a potential issue with the included acetaminophen.

KinderFarms says it gets the acetaminophen from a 30-year over-the-counter U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturer. Tests showed the acetaminophen is outside specifications and therefore could pose a health risk.

The KinderMed recall includes KinderMed Infants’ Pain & Fever (2 fluid ounces/59 milliliters) oral suspension (acetaminophen — 160 milligrams per 5 milliliters) with a UPC of 850001805698 and KinderMed Kids’ Pain & Fever (4 fluid ounces/118 milliliters) oral suspension (acetaminophen — 160 milligrams per 5 milliliters) with a UPC of 850001805728.

Stop using KinderMed medication immediately, return to store, recall says

KinderFarms says it has not received reports of adverse effects related to the recall. The company is facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Consumers who purchased the products should stop using them immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Individuals can reach KinderFarms at consumerrelations@kinderfarms.com or 800-996-2930 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT.

A California federal judge declined to let Walgreens out of the majority of a class action lawsuit this summer, claiming the company fraudulently marketed a generic children’s cough medicine.
