Sprite, Coca-Cola, & Minute Maid Recall Overview:

  • Who: Coca-Cola company is recalling Sprite, Coca-Cola, and Minute Maid drinks due to “foreign matter” contamination.
  • Why: The contamination is reportedly occurring during the product manufacturing process.
  • Where: The most recent recall impacts drinks distributed in the Southeastern states.

Sprite, Coca-Cola, and Minute Maid are being recalled due to “undisclosed foreign matter.” The recalled products were sold across various Southeastern states and they join a growing list of products being recalled due to contamination occurring in the manufacturing process.

The Minute Maid recall is the most recent Coca-Cola company recall, but a similar recall was issued in late November. The Coca-Cola recall involved Coca-Cola and Sprite soda cans containing “undisclosed foreign matter,” according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message issued Nov. 24.

The Minute Maid recall involves products that may contain metal pieces. Coca-Cola issued a recall for various Minute Maid drinks that might be impacted, including:

  • Berry Punch – Date codes Jan0422 NP and Jan0522 NP, Batch 0010323455 and 0010259344 (recall F-0276-2022)
  • Strawberry Lemonade – Date code: Jan0322 NP, Batch: 0010259346 (recall F-0277-2022)
  • Fruit Punch – Date Code: JAN0522 NP Batch: 0010323454 (recall F-0278-2022)

The Coca-Cola and Sprite products being recalled include:

  • Coca-Cola 12 ounce cans (Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B)
  • Coca-Cola 12 ounce cans (Date Code: AUG 1522 WM C)
  • Sprite 12 ounce cans (Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B).

All recalled items expire in 2022, which means consumers may still own drinks that are contaminated.

These products join a growing list of contamination occurring in the manufacturing process. Costco issued a recall on Nov. 12 for Kool-Aid Tropical Punch mix sold at certain Costco Business Centers and warehouse locations in Los Angeles and the Northwest.

Costco said the recall was due to the “potential presence of foreign material, specifically very small pieces of metal or glass.”
