Kool-Aid drinkers, who bought the mix at a Costco, should check before taking a swig!
Kraft Heinz Company has issued a recall for its Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix sold at Costco as it might contain small fragments of metal or glass.
Indeed, Costco sent an alert to customers who had recently purchased the product, saying that Kraft Heinz and the Food and Drug Administration had announced a recall of two batches of the 82.5 oz Kool-Aid mix with “Best When Used By” dates of 2023-08-31 and 2023-09-01.
Costco says in the alert that the recall is due to the “potential presence of foreign material, specifically very small pieces of metal or glass.”
It is urging customers not to drink the Kool-Aid and to return it to a local Costco for a full refund.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Costco writes in the alert.
Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other food safety recalls.
Indeed, the Kool-Aid recall comes less than a month after Costco had to recall almost 15,000 sleeves of clam chowder due to the potential presence of hard, sharp plastic pieces.
Ivar’s Soup and Sauce Company issued the recall of 14,968 sleeves of refrigerated Kettle Classic Clam Chowder With Uncured Bacon on Oct. 19 through the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The company said it is possible that the soups contain “hard, sharp opaque plastic pieces,” and consumers “are urged not to eat the product,” the recall says.
Flower Foods has also had to issue a recall of 11 of its Tastykake multipack cupcake and krimpets products due to them possibly containing tiny fragments of metal mesh wire.
