Wawa Beverage Company is recalling multiple Wawa milk flavors after discovering plastic contamination on the fill lines of bottles. The recall affects 2% milk, double Dutch chocolate milk, cookies and cream milk and low-fat chocolate milk, distributed across several East Coast states.
The recall, initiated on Feb. 17, involves 16 oz (pint) bottles of Wawa Reduced Fat Milk 2%, Double Dutch Chocolate Milk, Cookies & Cream Milk and Chocolate Low-fat Milk.
Each product is categorized under a Class II recall, indicating that exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, but the likelihood of serious harm is remote.
“A class II recall is a situation in which use of or exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” the Wawa recall states.
Wawa’s recall is part of a broader issue affecting the Northeastern United States, where other brands have also faced similar contamination concerns.
