The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently issued two recalls. One is for a gas utility and transport vehicle and the other is a gas golf and transport vehicle. Both vehicles are made by Club Car and both recalls were issued on Aug. 19, 2019.
The Club Car gas and utility vehicles that are affected include: Gas Carryall 300, Transporter, Villager Vehicles, Streetrod Lux and Streetrod Vintage Vehicles.
The gas and utility vehicles were recalled because “Under continuous operations with low speed idling periods and a full gas tank, the fuel vent can allow fuel to leak, posing a fire hazard.”
The recall effects 1,300 vehicles, with an additional 13 sold in Canada.
The CPSC states that consumers should cease using the gas and utility vehicles and schedule a free repair with Club Car. The CPSC notes that Club Car will be contacting consumers directly.
The gas and utility vehicles were sold at Club Car and Streetrod from July 2018 through March 2019 at a price between $8,000 and $16,000. In addition, Streetrod branded vehicles were sold by Streetrod authorized dealers from July 2018 to March 2019 at a price between $18,000 and $20,000.
The CPSC states that the recalled vehicles can be identified by the model and serial numbers which are located above and to the right of the accelerator pedal.
The Club Car gas golf and transport vehicles that are affected include: Club Car Precedent, Tempo, Onward and Villager model vehicles.
The CPSC states that the gas golf and transport vehicles can leak fuel from an improperly-routed fuel line, which could pose fire and burn hazards. About 9,000 vehicles are being recalled in the U.S. with an additional 2,000 sold in Canada.
As with the other vehicles that were recalled, consumers should cease using the vehicles and contact Club Car to schedule a free repair.
The CPSC notes that the gas golf and transport vehicles were sold at authorized Club Car dealerships from August 2018 through July 2019 at a price between $7,000 and $11,000.
In addition, the CPSC states that Club Car has received three reports of gas leaks in the gas golf and transport vehicles, but that no fires or injuries have been reported.
Consumers are asked to call Club Car at 888-227-7925 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or go online at ClubCar.com and click on “safety info” on the bottom of the page.
