Schneider Electric panel recall overview:

  • Who: Schneider Electric issued a recall for 1.4 million of its Square D QO brand Plug-On Neutral Load Centers.
  • Why: The company initiated the recall over concerns that the load centers can overheat and become a thermal burn and fire hazard.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Schneider Electric recalled 1.4 million of its electrical panels over concerns their load centers can overheat and pose a thermal burn and fire hazard.

The recalled indoor/outdoor electrical panels are Square D QO brand Plug-On Neutral Load Centers, according to a recall posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on June 16.

Schneider says the recalled electrical panels were installed in homes, recreational vehicles and commercial establishments, including warehouses, restaurants and manufacturing facilities, among other places.

The recalled electrical panels were manufactured between February 2020 and January 2022 and sold by authorized Schneider Electric distributors and home improvement and hardware stores nationwide, according to the electric panel recall.

Electric panel recall says no injuries reported so far

Schneider says it is contacting all known retailers, distributors, homeowners and other known purchasers or installers directly and has advised anyone who has purchased or installed the product to immediately contact the company.

Once contacted, Schneider will arrange for a trained electrician to go out and determine whether a replacement or repair is required free of charge, according to the electric panel recall.

Schneider, which says no injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, advises consumers who continue to use the electrical panels while awaiting a repair to make sure that the smoke alarms in their homes work properly.

The recalled electrical panels were sold for between $90 and $1,660, according to the electric panel recall.

15 thoughts on1.4M electric panels recalled due to overheating risk

  1. Kellery Greene says:

Please add me. I was told someone would come out in July and have not heard anything since September. It’s now November and nobody responds to the emails and trying to call is impossible. I keep getting stuck in a loop with their system. This was a new build bought in August of 2020. I already had one issue with the panel. I don’t want to lose my house of their neglegnce.

  2. Daniel Ruggiero says:

I have one of these boxes installed in my house. Everyone on my street has the same boxes as all were built at the same time with the same builder. I completed the Schneider claim form on 9/29/2022 and have not heard back from anyone. A house burned in my neighborhood a couple weeks ago. Same builder, cause unknown at this time.

  3. Andrew Castor says:

I ha e two of these panels in my house now. I will contact Schneider Electric and file a claim.

  4. Jeff says:

I have one in our home and I am trying to get the inspector that passed our house to reconsider so that our builder D.R Horton will replace the issue. There are a few reported house catching fire because of this panel.

  5. David Burt says:

I had two of these boxes in my home. One of them recently melted down and the only reason my house did not burn down was the outside main did its job and tripped. I am not in the recall date range and Schneider told me today to go F myself. I would like to be included in any action.
