Recall Check: Panera Soup With Latex Gloves, 60K Pounds of Aldi Frozen Chicken

Panera Soup, Aldi Frozen Chicken Recalls Overview:

• Who: Regulators have issued a pair of recalls concerning frozen chicken sold at Aldi and ready to eat Panera soup. 
• Why: Both products may be unsafe for consumption.
• Where: The recalled Panera soup and frozen chicken were sold across multiple states.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a pair of recalls warning consumers about salmonella tainting certain frozen chicken products sold at Aldi and other grocers, as well as ready to eat Panera soup that may contain pieces of food handling gloves.  

Panera Soup Recall 

Blount Fine Foods recalled more than 6,000 pounds of Panera BREAD at HOME Chicken Tortilla Soup after reports that consumers found pieces of gray nitrile glove in the product.  

The recalled Panera soup is a ready to eat product that was sold at retail locations in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Texas, says the USDA notice. The Panera soup subject to the recall comes in a 16 oz tub with lot code 070121-1V and “Use By 09/09/2021” on the label.   

The USDA is concerned that consumers may have stored recalled Panera soup in their refrigerators. The agency urges consumers to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.  

Frozen Chicken Recall 

Serenade Foods has issued a recall for nearly 60,000 pounds of frozen chicken, including raw, breaded, and pre-browned stuffed chicken products, according to another USDA announcement issued Monday.  

The products may be contaminated with salmonella, which can cause severe stomach problems, along with serious health issues in vulnerable populations, warns the agency. 

The recalled frozen chicken was produced on Feb 24 and 25, 2021 and include: 

• 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “Dutch Farms Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese” 
• 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “MILFORD VALLEY CHICKEN WTH BROCCOLI & CHEESE”  
• 10-oz box of two individually plastic-wrapped packages of “MILFORD VALLEY CHICKEN CORDON BLEU”  
• 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “KIRKWOOD Raw Stuffed CHICKEN, BROCCOLI & CHEESE”  
• 5-oz individually plastic-wrapped packages of “KIRKWOOD Raw Stuffed CHICKEN CORDON BLEU” 

The recalled frozen chicken products were sold nationwide at Aldi and other grocery stores.  

More than two dozen illnesses associated with the recalled frozen chicken have been reported in six states, according to the USDA.
