Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that the steering wheel and front suspension on its Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles were defective and later became subject to a recall due to safety concerns.
The settlement benefits owners and lessees of model-year 2018 to 2020 Jeep Wrangler vehicles or 2020 Jeep Gladiator vehicles.
FCA issued a recall on certain Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles due to concerns that the vehicles’ steering wheel and front suspension are defective, resulting in a so-called “death wobble” — shaking on bumpy roads at highway speeds. A class action lawsuit against FCA claims consumers were financially injured by these defects and forced to foot the bills for repairs.
FCA is a vehicle brand owned by Stellantis. FCA owns several brands, including Jeep.
FCA hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the recall class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Jeep class action lawsuit settlement, class members can receive a warranty extension of up to eight years or 90,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extended warranty will cover repairs associated with a failed front suspension steering damper.
Class members can also receive reimbursement if they had to pay out of pocket to have their front suspension steering damper replaced in the past.
The deadline for exclusion and objection was March 10, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for April 19, 2023.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form. However, there is no deadline to submit a claim — class members may submit a claim indefinitely as long as they qualify for settlement relief.

Unfortunate that the owners of the Jeep Cherokee have yet to get a recall or opportunity to claim under these suits. I owned three Jeep Cherokees, 2005, 2006, 2012, and they all experienced the death wobble, spent a lot of money attempting to repair the issue and it was like chasing a ghost. The 2006 was the only one that I didn’t have very long because I couldn’t reach the pedals right in that one, I am very short so that matters, so I sold it to put the money down on the 2012, and a few months later the police came to arrest my husband because the buyer of the 2006 claimed the inspection was fake because they experienced the death wobble, and had it in their head, and convinced their neighbor the state cop, that we had to know about this, and their son the mechanic assistant, said there was no way that it passed inspection doing that, yet, their mechanic son couldn’t identify what was wrong with it to repair it. It was a whole disaster, especially because the inspection was legitimate, it checked out with all records, but yet they were still charging my husband with fraud, over the KNOWN death wobble. We never experienced it with the 2006, and at that time my 2005 was the only time I experienced such a thing so I thought it was just that vehicle and whatever was going on with it. Wasn’t even on my mind when we sold that Jeep. After the court case was filed, I started researching and found out that this is a common thing that goes way back through years of models for the Jeep, there has to be something that is going wrong with these things that just keeps being reproduced with these defects, that may have caused deadly accidents that unfortunately, couldn’t be ascertained at the time because no legal trail or action has been taken. They dropped the forgery and fake inspection charges on my husband, but he still was charged with selling the vehicle with dangerous defect. The fact that the new owner didn’t experience the wobble for 4 months was never taken into consideration. It really is who you know sometimes. So I went back to school and will be able to legally practice in the near future, because that experience just showed how inept and ignorant the administration of law is not just by what you see on the news, but through every facet of the system. Pay out or go to jail. Its not guilt, its wealth that decides the verdict. Guess one good thing came out of it. Maybe I will have to start my own class action since there is obviously enough people out there to prove this is a long standing, known defect, and as the records against my husband classify this defect as “life threatening”.
I had a 2015 jeep Cherokee 3.6l . My transmission would engage when in park. Then i was on the highway loss all power without warning hit a abadon car parked on side of highway. 360 back in to traffic. I couldnt do anything . It had previously had so called fix but the so xalled fix didnt work
2014 started shaking lately
Please add me
I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport that I have spent $4000 on the front end and steering and I still can’t go highway speed without it shaking violently. I’ve also spent $7000 to replace the transmission.
We are long time Jeep owners and death wobble is unfortunately SO common and it’s so hard for techs to replicate. Husband is a tech and has trouble replicating it on our Jeep.
I leased a wrangler, i planned on keeping it but had suspension issues that they kept telling me they were unable to replicate.
I have a 2012 jeep grand cherokee overland. When on the freeway and changing lanes my front end starts bouncing like I have no control. And the back will slide from left to right making me feel deathly afraid.!! I took it in to be checked and they couldn’t find anything visibly wrong. Idk. But I want to sell it. Im too afraid to drive it
2022 Jeep Wrangler. I experience this “death wobble” probably 3 out of 5 times when driving on the highway. It will begin randomly. The shop can never seem to recreate it.
Death rattle happened to my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I couldn’t go over 35mph without the front end shaking. Tires, shocks, and assorted parts replaced and finally another mechanic defined and fixed the issue. Evidently this has been going on for years. I am definitely off Jeep.
