Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that the steering wheel and front suspension on its Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles were defective and later became subject to a recall due to safety concerns.
The settlement benefits owners and lessees of model-year 2018 to 2020 Jeep Wrangler vehicles or 2020 Jeep Gladiator vehicles.
FCA issued a recall on certain Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles due to concerns that the vehicles’ steering wheel and front suspension are defective, resulting in a so-called “death wobble” — shaking on bumpy roads at highway speeds. A class action lawsuit against FCA claims consumers were financially injured by these defects and forced to foot the bills for repairs.
FCA is a vehicle brand owned by Stellantis. FCA owns several brands, including Jeep.
FCA hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the recall class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Jeep class action lawsuit settlement, class members can receive a warranty extension of up to eight years or 90,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extended warranty will cover repairs associated with a failed front suspension steering damper.
Class members can also receive reimbursement if they had to pay out of pocket to have their front suspension steering damper replaced in the past.
The deadline for exclusion and objection was March 10, 2023.
The final approval hearing for the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for April 19, 2023.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form. However, there is no deadline to submit a claim — class members may submit a claim indefinitely as long as they qualify for settlement relief.

I have a 2008 2dr Rubicon that I purchased new. I have had the death wobble from the first year I purchased it. Chrysler kept denying that the death wobble exists, when it was under warranty. I had to throw over $6000 to have it repaired, without modifying the front end or it would void my warranty. I have not been able to repair it without modifying the front end. Now that its not under warranty, I dont qualify for the settlement or to have it repaired. Its now 2024. I dont have the money it is going to take to repair the death wobble. My jeep sits in my backyard covered up until I can come up with the money to repair the death wobble. Chrysler is just plain lucky that I am a good driver! My Jeep is so unstable now that if I take it out, I risk endangering everyone else on the road!
2016 should be included as well –
2017 should be included as well.
My Jeep Wrangler definitely experienced all of those issues and I have proof of expenses to pay it. However, it won’t allow me to submit a claim and I’m 1,000% sure I qualify. I called the number and it’s an automated system. I need to speak with someone LIVE!
Please add me
I wish the steering Damper was the only issue! Mine was replaced 1x already and I still have issues. I’ve got a 2018 JLU wrangler with steering that needs to be replaced already. Please explain how that can be. I barely have 50k miles on it. I can’t go over 65mph or it will feel like it is shaking apart.
It’s ridiculous that FCA has put in such sub standard parts that it risks peoples lives. Of course since my damper has been replaced already and my original warranty is expired they won’t do a darn thing to fix my steering!
Florida has ambiguous laws in each county as how to deal with classifying a tiny home on wheels. They are making it hard for people to live and jump through all their hoops. What can be done about this?
I had to spend a fortune to rebuild the front suspension on an older model jeep to avoid the well known death wobble.

I have a 2007 jeep grand Cherokee that has a steering and suspension problem. First started hearing mild metal grinding noises and slight steering wheel vibration about 55 mph. Then noticed fluid leaking from the tie rod boot on the rack and pinion. And happened this past week had the rack and pinion go out and driver side tire went to the right while the rest of the vehicle was going straight, this in turn caused the jeep to roll over the tire sideways and busted the upper and lower ball joints in half, broke the brake line, and busted the universal joint out of the cv axle. Now our only vehicle is broke down from the front end breaking
So I am experiencing this with my 2011 jeep Grand Cherokee model and I’ve now gone and taken my jeep into the shop now two years in a row and they have tried to bill me directly but I was lucky to have had lifetime warranty on the vehicle, but I still had to pay a deductible and a good amount for the diagnostics and for the service that was required as well as the tires that were worn out due to this issue. How do I file a lawsuit against that when this one is already settled and this being the same exact issue I’m having as we speak and my jeep is in the shop right now being repaired for the next two weeks due to a national back order of the parts required to fix the vehicle. So any advice is helpful. Thanks- Nick from Oakland CA.
