No reports of illness from cashews recall, Wenders says

Wenders says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and those with weakened immune systems, the recall notice states.

Healthy people can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, the recall says. In rare circumstances, salmonella infection can lead to more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

Consumers should stop eating the Trader Joe’s cashews and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Wenders can be reached at foodsafety@wendersllc.com.
