Starbucks has agreed to a $325,000 class action settlement to resolve claims that it failed to provide adequate Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) notices to former employees.

The Starbucks class action settlement benefits participants and beneficiaries in the Starbucks Welfare Benefits Plan, including its Health and Vision Plans, in the United States who were sent a COBRA notice between July 21, 2016, and Jan. 1, 2023, after a qualifying event and did not elect continuation coverage.

The Starbucks COBRA notice class action lawsuit claims the company failed to provide adequate COBRA notices to former employees. These notices allegedly failed to inform employees of their rights to elect COBRA continuation coverage.

Starbucks has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $325,000 class action settlement to resolve the COBRA class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Starbucks class action settlement, class members can receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of claims filed. According to the settlement website, each class member could receive around $30 if 25% of class members file claims or around $74 if 10% of class members file claims.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 2, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Starbucks settlement is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2027.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit the claim form they received as a member of the settlement postdated no later than by Dec. 2, 2026. Members may update their address online using the notice ID and PIN provided.
