For some Americans, the price of medication is simply too high. As an example, numerous seniors will only take drugs sporadically or split them because they live on a fixed income. Others resort to Canadian mail order pharmacies or crossing into Mexico. In both cases, they risk obtaining counterfeit antibiotics that compound the problems that already exist for Zithromax side effects.
Drug maker Pfizer is noting a marked increase in the amount of fake medications based on its popular antibiotic that are being sold worldwide. As with other examples of overprescription, this is a contributor to the overprescription epidemic that is helping to create so-called superbugs.
Perhaps more importantly, if patients do not have to speak with a pharmacist or a doctor, they may not know of the heart side effects that forced the manufacturer to add warnings about the possibility of arrhythmias in a patient with a history of cardiovascular issues.
Another major issue is liver damage. Zithromax, also known as Z-Pak, is similar to many other antibiotics in that it is metabolized in the liver. However, because it is a powerful, broad-spectrum variant, as the liver tries to process it, the organ can struggle to keep up. This can sometimes lead to major medical complications.
If you pile that on top of gastrointestinal issues, adding a counterfeit pill with buffers or other adulterants, it’s clear why it is so important to know the source of prescription medications. Zithromax side effects are already a concern in its original form, with reported complications including Stevens Johnson Syndrome, heart attack, and liver disease.
