The class action settlement resolves allegations that Wells Fargo used an automatic telephone dialing system to place calls to consumers’ cell phones without obtaining their permission first. Federal law prohibits businesses from contacting consumers through robocalls or text spam unless they receive prior express consent.

Wells Fargo denied the allegations but agreed to pay $30.4 million to settle the class action and avoid the risk and cost of ongoing lititgation.

Class Members included “all users or subscribers to a wireless or cellular service within the United States who used or subscribed to a phone number to which Wells Fargo made or initiated one or more Calls during the Class Period (Apr. 21, 2011 – Dec. 19, 2015), in connection with overdrafts of deposit accounts, using any automated dialing technology or artificial or prerecorded voice technology, according to Wells Fargo’s available records.”

The deadline to file a claim for the Wells Fargo class action settlement passed on Jan. 16, 2017.

Just to let people know, I also question the authenticity of the check I received, so I called Huntington (the bank on the check), they gave me a number to call that will determine if its a valid check. 1-800-752-4316. I am reading the comments and it is so mixed. People either got check declined or had no problem. I hope this helps. I do not see this being a scam so much after calling the bank, but who knows. I will try to cash it and hopefully give more info. I got the same “post-card” check.
