David’s Cookies announced a recall for 960 units of its Walmart brand cakes labeled as Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes that are actually Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes. 

The company initiated the recall over concerns a consumer with peanut allergies will purchase and eat the mislabeled cake, according to a recall announcement the U.S. Food and Drug Administration published Sept. 19. 

The recalled Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes are sold in 7-ounce packages with Lot No. BS23212, which can be found on the top of the package, according to the recall. 

David’s Cookies says it has not received any reports of illnesses or injuries in connection with the recall. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Walmart cakes removed from shelves amid further investigation, recall notice states

Walmart removed the Marketside Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes and Marketside Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Explosion Cakes from store shelves amid further investigation, according to the cake recall. 

Consumers who purchased the recalled cakes should return them to their original place of purchase to receive a full refund. Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact David’s Cookies directly at (800) 500-2800. 

In another recall involving Walmart, Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle recalled more than 1.2 million of its Walmart-brand Mainstays candles over concerns their glass could break, creating a fire risk.
