Walmart candle recall overview: 

  • Who: Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle recalled more than 1.2 million Mainstays candles sold at Walmart. 
  • Why: The candles can burn too close to the side of the container, causing the glass to break.
  • Where: The Walmart candle recall is active in the United States.

Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle recalled more than 1.2 million Mainstays candles sold exclusively at Walmart as they can burn too close to the side of the container, causing the glass to break and leading to a fire. 

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website published the recall Feb. 23. 

It applies to about 1.21 million Mainstays Three-Wicked Candles in round 14-oz. glass jars sold with Halloween and autumn themes. The candles are being recalled by the New Jersey manufacturer Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle.

According to the recall, Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle, a New Jersey manufacturer, received 12 reports of the candle burning too close to the side of the container and the glass cracking, resulting in one report of a minor cut and multiple reports of damage to nearby items. The company received one report of a fire.

Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Candle buyers can receive full refund, Walmart recall says

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and contact Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle to receive a full refund, the Walmart recall states.

Star Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle sold the candles at Walmart stores nationwide and online at www.walmart.com from Sept. 2022 through Nov. 2022 for about $7.

The recalled candles have a metal lid and are sold in seven different names: Jack-O-Lantern, Mystic Fog, Warm Apple Pie, Warm Fall Leaves, Fall Farm House, Pumpkin Spice and Magic Potion. 

Mainstays and the candle’s name are printed on the side of the candle. The candles are about 4 in. x 4 in.

In related news, in 2020, a Walmart customer filed a class action lawsuit alleging the retail giant’s Mainstay candles possess a serious defect that can cause them to explode or become engulfed in flames.

    I sure am as I’ve bought many many of Walmart Mainstay candles, given as gifts too. Didn’t know that may be why they glass cracked open! Dangerous for sure and pray no one else is hurt by broken glass or hot wax!

      I am upset I just saw Target and yous Walmart both recall candles. My fiancé and I own a business and we give them to our clients for a token of appreciation and now I have to try and reach all of them
