Porsche recall overview:
- Who: Porsche Cars North America Inc. is recalling 173,538 vehicles.
- Why: The recall is due to a malfunctioning rearview camera that may not display images when the vehicle is in reverse.
- Where: The recall is active in the United States.
Porsche is recalling more than 170,000 vehicles because of a defect that prevents the rearview camera from displaying images when the car is placed in reverse. This issue affects compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
The recall, announced Dec. 19, 2025, targets several models, including the 2020-2025 Porsche Taycan, 2020-2025 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid, 2024-2025 Porsche Panamera, 2019-2025 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, 2019-2025 Porsche Cayenne, and 2020-2025 Porsche 911.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that transient signal noise between the control unit and the cameras may cause the image disruption.
“A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash,” the Porsche recall says.
Porsche recall: About 1% of vehicles affected, including Porsche Cayenne
Porsche estimates that approximately 1% of the recalled vehicles may actually experience this issue. Owners of the impacted models, including the Porsche Cayenne, are advised to remain vigilant and contact their local dealerships for assistance.
