Mercedes-Benz recalls overview:

  • Who: Mercedes-Benz issued recalls for more than 137,000 2020-2024 model year vehicles.
  • Why: The Mercedes-Benz defects include bad welds on an accelerator pedal, faulty fuses and a transmission shifting issue.
  • Where: The Mercedes-Benz recalls are effective across the United States.

Mercedes-Benz defects have sparked three recalls for more than 137,000 late-model vehicles from the manufacturer.

The largest of the Mercedes-Benz recalls is for more than 105,000 vehicles that have the potential to stall when shifting between sixth and seventh gears. The recall includes nearly 73,000 2020-2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 SUVs and more than 32,000 2020-2023 GLE 450 SUVs.

Mercedes-Benz notified dealers of the recall Feb. 23 and plans to notify owners by April 16. Dealers will update the transmission control unit software for the recalled vehicles.

The second recall affects nearly 32,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles that have faulty fuses which could cause systems to stop working without warning, increasing the risk of a crash or fire. This recall includes 2023-2024 C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, CLE, GLC, EQE, EQE SUV, EQS and EQS SUV vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the main fuse boxes on the recalled vehicles.

The third Mercedes-Benz defect recall was issued for 466 model year 2024 vehicles that have spot weld issues on the accelerator pedal, which could lead the pedal bracket to detach and leave the accelerator partially applied or block the brake pedal from functioning properly.

The recall covers the 199 GLE350, 96 GLE450, 7 AMG GLE53 and 164 AMG GLE53 Coupe vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz dealers will drill through the welds and secure the bracket with rivets on the recalled vehicles.

The automaker did not say whether it has received reports of injuries due to the recalls so far. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Consumers can reach Mercedes-Benz at 877-496-3691.

Mercedes-Benz previously recalled 42,742 of its model year 2019-2021 A-Class, CLA, GLA and GLB vehicles after finding the vehicles do not include a brake inspection gauge for their rear axle brake pads and the owners manuals do not include standard information for its use.
