Kia recall overview:

  • Who: Kia is recalling 6,264 Telluride and Telluride Hybrid SUVs.

  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Kia is recalling 6,264 of its 2027 Kia Telluride and Telluride Hybrid SUVs due to a seatbelt defect.

The issue is linked to an incorrect vehicle sensor installed in the seatbelt assemblies, which may cause the emergency locking retractor to lock unexpectedly, failing to meet federal motor vehicle safety standards.

The recall was issued on June 2 and involves Telluride models manufactured between March 24, 2026, and May 12, 2026.

Kia to inspect, repair vehicles at no cost

Kia has assured that owners will be notified by mail starting July 31, with instructions to bring their vehicles to authorized dealerships where technicians will replace the faulty seatbelt assembly at no cost to the owners.

For those seeking more information, Kia has provided a customer service line at 800-333-4542. The Kia recall number is SC372.

Additionally, information will be available on the NHTSA recall page or its hotline at 888-327-4236 for further assistance.

Kia says it has not received any reports of injury related to the Telluride recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Currently, Kia is facing a class action lawsuit claiming it failed to disclose a defect in the digital instrument cluster display of 2023-2025 Telluride vehicles.
