Honda recall overview:

  • Who: Honda is recalling nearly 60,000 vehicles, including 2024 Acura ZDX and 2024-2025 Honda Prologue models.
  • Why: The recall is due to rearview cameras displaying distorted or blank images, increasing the risk of crashes.
  • Where: The recall is active in the United States.

Honda is recalling nearly 60,000 vehicles, including the 2024 Acura ZDX and 2024-2025 Honda Prologue models, due to a defect in the rearview camera system that could increase the risk of crashes.

The recall notice was posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 14.

The Honda recall affects 59,887 vehicles, where the rearview camera may display a distorted or blank image due to improper bonding of the camera housing. This defect allows moisture to corrode the camera’s internal components, leading to potential failure of the display screen.

The malfunction is happening because the camera’s housing may not be properly bonded, according to the recall report.

Honda to replace Acura ZDX and Prologue cameras at no cost

To address the issue, Honda will replace the faulty rearview cameras in the affected Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue vehicles free of charge at authorized dealerships.

Vehicle owners will receive interim letters by July 6, notifying them of the safety risks. Additional communication will follow once the remedy is available.

Owners are encouraged to contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for further assistance. Honda’s numbers for this recall are DO5 and RO6. Additional information is searchable on the NHTSA website by entering the vehicle identification number.

Honda has not reported any injuries or crashes related to this recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows Honda recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

In April, Honda recalled more than 440,000 Odyssey vehicles due to a software issue that may lead to unexpected airbag deployment, posing a risk of injury.

I have a 2025 Honda Civic Sport and have the same issue with my rear camera display. It doesn’t even have to be raining for the display screen to show a distorted image. It just has to be early morning or evening time. How do I get my vehicle to be included in the recall?
