Honda class action lawsuitA federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Honda claiming its 2003-2007 Accords and Civics have defective paint that delaminates, causing the vehicles to appear faded or to have peeling paint.

The Honda Civic/Accord paint class action lawsuit was filed by two Plaintiffs, including a New York resident who alleges portions of her 2003 Honda Accord began exhibiting “areas and splotches of deterioration and eventually grey or white areas where the vehicle’s original paint had delaminated. Over time, the paint delamination has increased in severity and extent, covering several of the vehicle’s body panels.” When the Plaintiff brought her car to a Honda dealership to repair the paint delamination, Honda denied her request because it was beyond the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

“In modern vehicles, automobile paint is routinely expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle, such that, absent an accident, a vehicles owner reasonably would not expect to have to spend thousands of dollars to have his or her vehicles stripped and repainted during ownership of the car,” the class action lawsuit says. “Honda, however, has manufactured vehicles with a defective paint or paint application, that leaves vehicle owners with a vehicle of unacceptable appearance. In addition, the delamination of the paint from the vehicle’s body panels, exposing the vehicle to enhanced erosion.”

The Honda paint class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all California and New York owners of a model year 2003-2007 Honda vehicles. It is seeking actual damages and losses sustained by Class Members and other relief for breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty of merchantability, and violation of California’s unfair competition law.

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L, Black and it started having paint issues a few years ago. I kept it in a garage when home and in the shade when at work. I have areas of faded gray and black areas without any shine. It keeps getting worse and I was told by a body shop that 2005-2007 Honda Pilots have a lot of paint problems.

I submitted my claim. Received a case # then ignored. Repeated calls snd messages to case manager Livette unanswered for several weeks. At first I was told they caloed but had wrong phone number but I leave my phone # with every message and was told correct phone in system but still no calls. I ask for supervisor and sent bsck to this Livette voicemail. This a classic insulting and demeaning rin around.

My 2012 Honda Odyssey with Taffata white paint is peeling 5 months after the extended warranty ran out.
Honda knew it was a problem or they would not have extended the warranty. I am checking to see if there is any suits for this problem.

  4. Barbara says:

My 2007 Honda Civic paint is pealing all over! This is not right and I’m now looking to buy a SUV but now I won’t get much for it the trading-in value because of the paint. I like the Honda CV3, but I don’t trust them and will not buy one. I expected more from Honda.

How do I sign up for the class action law suit??

    1. Percy Williams says:

I bought a 2007 Honda Civic used in 2010. About 4 years ago I began to notice the paint flaking on the trunk, roof and hood. Now the paint is peeling off everywhere. Not the quality I expected from Honda when I purchased the car. Honda have simply turned their back on the problem. I would urge everyone who have experienced this problem to make it clear to Honda that that they will NEVER purchase another Honda vehicle nor endorse the product after being treated so poorly. Please tell me if the Class Action is also available to Canadian?

  5. Sylvia Miller says:

I have a black Honda Accord 2003 which sat in my grandmother’s garage for several years with only 84,000 miles on it. The entire roof and trunk are gray and more and more coming off everyday. It looks awful! I look around parking lots and on streets everyday and have never seen one that looks like this. Please tell me what to do to be a part of this class action.

  7. Diane Obrien says:

I was supposed to be part of this class action, but never heard back from anyone that it was over or what happened. My car is a total mess. 2006 civic with only 65k and the entire top is peeled off.

Do you think we need to start a new class action about this? I’ve seen brand new cars that this is still happening to.

  8. Darlene Parks says:
