Top Class Actions viewers say they are receiving checks, some of which exceed $8,000, in a second distribution of payments from a Home Depot data breach class action settlement.
The first batch of payments, sent out around April of this year, went out to qualifying Class Members who filed valid claims for actual losses related to the data breach.
According to comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, viewers are now receiving a second check for hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars.
After the first distribution, some of the remaining funds were used to reimburse Home Depot for the costs of settlement administration and of the Identity Guard Monitoring Services provided to qualifying Class Members.
The current and second round of payments distributes the last of the settlement fund.
This Home Depot class action settlement resolves claims over a data breach that affected the self-checkout counters at Home Depot stores across the U.S.
According to the company’s announcement, the breach exposed the credit card information of customers who used self-checkout counters between April 10 and Sept. 13, 2014. A separate file containing customers’ email addresses was also exposed. Around 40 million Home Depot customers were believed to be affected by this breach.
Several Home Depot class actions that followed the company’s announcement were consolidated into a single action, which ultimately led to the current settlement.
Home Depot established a $13 million settlement fund to compensate customers affected by the data breach. Qualifying Class Members could be entitled to up to $10,000 each for documented losses related to the breach.
The settlement also required Home Depot to provide up to 18 months’ worth of Identity Guard Monitoring Services to help protect affected customers against identity theft and credit fraud.
Class Members eligible to claim benefits included persons who used a credit or debit card at a self-checkout stand at a U.S. Home Depot store between April 10 and Sept. 13, 2014 and whose payment card information was compromised, as well as all persons who received notification that their email address was compromised and those who received a settlement notice notifying them that they were a Class Member.
The deadline to submit a claim for the Home Depot data breach settlement passed on Oct. 29, 2016.

Never recieved my check either
I didn’t recieve a check either!
Please you add me today
Identity theft please add me
I don’t remember getting a check from this company. Would you please check on it for me. Thank you.
We have given Home Depot a lot of business over the years, including remodeling our entire kitchen and purchasing cabinets worth thousands from them, and never once were we notified of this class action suit. How is that possible? With mail theft in our neighborhood at its highest, attorneys need to find a new way of notifying potential victims. We’re not happy about this at all.
You can contact class counsel with your concerns. Counsel is listed in this article and can be Googled for contact information: https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/334196-home-depot-data-breach-class-action-settlement/
I am considering filing a complaint against General Counsel with the Bar Association. Home Depot actually sent my company an email informing me that my info was breached. I forwarded this email to General Counsel when they denied me payment. They ignored me after sending this email verification. I believe that KCC deliberately withholds money from legitimate claimants.
Good luck I have been trying since Oct 2017 to get an answer from them!
I received an email back from the claims administrator advising they sent out a check December 15th, 2017 and my usps informed delivery shows it should be arriving today.
How much??
I finally received my supplemental settlement check. The settlement administrator sent it to me via FedEx after I communicated with their general counsel.
My supplemental check is for 25 times the initial settlement amount. I originally filed a documented claim and received a W-9 request in late September.
Great..who did you talk to?
I contacted the settlement administrator’s (Kurtzman Carson Consultants) general counsel.
KCC displays many of their employee’s email addresses on their website, under About Us>Directory.
Thank you for sharing your update, hopefully they start sending the remaining checks out soon.
Who did you make contact with? I have tried to call email and everything else no respond. I checked the phone log of there’s and went to another address I have been trying to contact them no response whatsoever.
I would contact the settlement administrator’s general counsel. You can find their contact information on the administrator’s website.
I sent in claim. got claim number, got new card, called adminastrators still got nothing so what are we to do ?
I called the administrator last week and got no help. I’m supposed to be getting over $5000 from this settlement.
Im still waiting also…no response from admin
Then you can try class counsel. Counsel is listed in the TCA article and on the settlement website and can be Googled for contact information: https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/334196-home-depot-data-breach-class-action-settlement/.
First, let me say that this site is amazing! Without it, I would be left completely in the dark about the status of the settlement payment in this matter. The settlement admin, Kurtzman Carson Consultants, is of no help. In fact, their actions appear to be deliberate and dilatory.
I am owed thousands from this settlement.
I mailed a W-9 to Kurtzman Carson Consultants, as they asked. There is no question it was received.
Still no check.
I called Kurtzman Carson Consultants three times in two weeks. They always answer the phone, but their story changes each time I call.
One time they claim I am due no money.
Another time they claim I am due a check, but that they have no idea if or will it will be issued.
Yet another time, they tell me that my W-9 is there, but no checks have been mailed, and they don’t know if any will be mailed.
I escalated to a supervisor. The supervisor told me that they cannot directly speak with the claims manager, and can only send them e messages.
Here is the good part: The supervisor laughed and said, “don’t feel bad, they ignore us, too.”
I emailed the attorneys of record. No response. I emailed the Kurtzman Carson Consultants case manager… twice. No response.
Absurd.
same issue………I did speak with the attorney, but she is still waiting to hear back from the case manager!
