Flea & Tick Product False Advertising Class Action Lawsuit

By Mike Holter

Advantage Flea & Tick ProductsA class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of dog and cat owners alleging, among other things, that Bayer Healthcare, LLC and Merial Limited regularly make false and deceptive claims in advertisements for their flea and tick products.
According to the class action lawsuit, Bayer and Merial collectively sell approximately $2 billion in flea and tick products annually, including Bayer’s line of Advantage, Advantix, K9 Advantix and Advocate products, and Merial’s line of Frontline and Certifect products. These products are sold as treatments for dogs and cats suffering with fleas, ticks, adult flea eggs, larvae, mosquito, heartworm, ear mites and sarcoptic mange. While each one of individual products targets only a limited subset of the pet aliments, all of the products target fleas and their larvae.
The problem, the flea and tick product class action lawsuit states, is that Bayer and Merial make false and/or misleading claims about what these products do. These allegedly false advertising claims include that the products:
* are self-dispersing and cover the entire surface area of the dog or cat’s body when applied in a single limited spot;
* are effective for one month and require monthly application to continue to be effective;
* do not enter the blood stream of the pet and instead move across the pet’s skin to cover the pet; and
* are waterproof and remain effective following shampoo treatments, swimming, or after exposure to rain or sunlight.
The Bayer and Merial Flea and Tick Product Class Action Lawsuit is seeking to recover damages on behalf of all consumers who purchased the products, as well as an injunction barring Bayer and Merial from continuing to misrepresent what their flea and tick products can do.

    A few months ago, I bought Ceresto collars for my two dogs. I bought them at Walmart. They started getting sick…I didnt put 2 +2 together until a few days later my Sadie started to poop orange loose stools
    She started to lose weight daily. I then realized it had to be the collars. I immediately took the collars off and bathed them with Dawn to remove any residue.
    Brando got better immediately. Sadie, unfortunately is still suffer6. I racked up thousands of dollars through vet and specialist visits. They could find nothing that could be causing this. To this day she has diarrhea constant, is not gaing any weight..in fact continuing to lose weight. Her coat is full and she is sick 99% of the time.
    I called Ceresto, they offered my money back…I was so mad, I dont want my money back, i want my dogs health back. They offered nothing else. I go to bed at night, fearing she will be dead by morning
    Please i need help. I want my baby to be the happy, goofy dog, before Ceresto stole her quality of life.
    I need answers, I need medical care. I’m not rich, as I said I have spent over a thousand dollars
    Please help me…help My Sadie.

    I would also want to be added. as my dog zurie had develop cancer tumor, also itching due to rashes and had a very very bad case of the hives and had to take her to emergency. She has also developed a neurological issues, as one side of her face now droops, she also has had terrible problems with her ears which both ears had terrible damage done to them. Zurie has worn these collars for over 2 years, Which i took off of her today 3/3/2021 as soon as i found out what terrible and most dishearten deaths this product has caused. I do have records of all these incidents and would gladly help with the lawsuits.

    I would like to be added to this lawsuit for the seresto collars my dogs lost the hair around there necks and all I also just lost my 17 year old dog that could have been around longer if I didn’t use this collar but my 2 chocolate labs lost there fur and all around there necks and eyes and stuff this is a shame that people have to go through this.

    I would like to be added to this class action law suit. Who can I contact t o do so. I had a dog who was switched into using the Soresto collar for flea and tick prevention. She was healthy for 9 years and a few months after wearing it discovered she had developed cancer throughout her entire body and passed away.

  5. Leah La Tour says:

    I have a 3.5 year old Husky! He’s gorgeous, extremely healthy and then while on the seresto collar last year for Lyme disease and awful skin issues, neurological tremors and an elevated ALT liver enzyme the vet said she hasn’t seen this ever in a 3.5 year old dog! I was just made aware of the seresto issues and sounds exactly like what he is experiencing! We want to be added to the class action suit! I am livid this is my baby – we experienced infertility and have put so much into this dog as he’s like a child and he’s only 3.5!

  6. Kristen Snitzer says:

    I would like to be added to this lawsuit. My German Shepherd is epileptic and we have to be careful about what flea meds to use. We were told that the seresto collar was one of the safest methods for dogs with a history of seizures. He has been wearing the collar for three months and we have seen a significant increase in seizure activity, worsening over past three months. I made the connection today and immediately removed the collar. Such BS.

  7. Jamie Weir says:

    I would like to be added I applied Pet Armour plus to my perfectly healthy kitten he died with no explanation during the night

  8. Kimberley M Poling says:

    How do I go about getting added to this lawsuit? I have spent so much money on these collars for my 2 cocker spaniels and my girl developed a terrible skin problem and a discoloration spot on her neck where the collar sits. It gets infected. And my boy just tested positive for lyme disease. I now have a whole other set of problems that are going to cost me 100s more dollars because of the ineffective products that are being sold by this company and the lies that they are telling. The stuff is not effective, it harms animals, and false advertising is ILLEGAL. I want justice!

  9. Meredith Skirka says:

    I would like to be added to the class action lawsuit . My two cats both have permanent neurological symptoms, tremors , seizures after having these flea collars on . They have weight loss and kidney damage as well

  10. denise merrick says:

    My boyfriend dog started having seizures after using seresto flea collars. Please add me to lawsuit
