CitiMortgage Loan Modification Class Action
By Matt O’Donnell

CitiMortgageAngry homeowners have filed a class action lawsuit against CitiMortgage, Inc. alleging the mortgage-and-loan company not only failed to deliver on its promises of providing borrowers with reduced loan payments, but also “financially devastated” them.

According to the class action lawsuit, CitiMortgage told homeowners that it could help them reduce loan payments by putting them in a trial mortgage modification program, based on the company’s participation in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), that would become permanent if the homeowner made reduced payments during the three-month trial period. However, even though homeowners made the monthly reduced payments that CitiMortgage asked them to make, and complied with the company’s requests for various documents in a timely manner, CitiMortgage allegedly denied homeowners permanent modification plans. This put some homeowners in even bigger financial hardship than when they entered the trial modification, despite doing everything CitiMortgage requested of them.

“Consumers that were rejected from permanent modification plans through no fault of their own should find themselves in no worse position than they entered it. Instead, [CitiMortgage’s] failure to honor its agreements and its misrepresentations and omissions about a program enacted to help homeowners reduce their payments and keep their homes have left Plaintiffs and Class Members financially devastated,” the lawsuit says.

The CitiMortgage class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons in the United States whose loans have been serviced by CitiMortgage and who, since April 13, 2009 through the resolution of litigation, have complied with their obligation under a trial loan modification program and have not received a permanent modification pursuant to the loan modification agreement and have been harmed because of it.

The lawsuit is seeking, among other things, class certification, restitution and actual damages for injuries suffered by class members. A copy of the CitiMortgage Class Action Lawsuit can be read here.

I did a Making Home Affordable Loan with Citi in 2010. After months of auto drafted payments Citi stopped taking the payments and foreclosed on my home. The kicker, during the same time they were taking my payments they sold the loan and collected from the underwriter! After 2 years in court I thought this nightmare was over but I just found out that Citi sold the same loan again in 2014 and this company now has a lien on my home! 11 years later I’m going to have to dish out more money for lawyers and go to court again over CitiMortgage Fraud !

Citimortgage forced me into a loan modification even though I had not missed any payments. I continued to send payments and they returned them to me and marked my account as delinquent. I was forced to do the modification or they would have forecloses. The modification was back dated a year, and added 3 years to my mortgage. They told me I would receive 15000-20000k back for the year I had paid that they backdated, and I never received it and they stopped answering calls and then sold my mortgage. Aside from losing that money – they added 3 yrs to my loan! I was totally current on my payments!

They are crooks and I have been hoping for years for a lawsuit

    I kept my paperwork.

I mean we all need to get together and sue Citi. They are a bunch of criminals. They forge our signature. We had a 18yr smart Equity loan. We have our copy. But they change it anyway to a 24yr. Then later to a 30 yr. They also change our interest rate to 10.69% to 10.89%. Tried to get a modification on loan told us to pay300.00 . We qualified for the modification, then they call months later and said no. Kept our 300.00 too. They are crooks.

  9. Beth Townsend says:

Citibank forge signatures and change your whole contract and photocopied your original signature onto another contract. They are so bad and mischievous that no one believes you. Because it’s so outlandish on there part. All of us needs to get together and use Citi. They did the same to me

We too were victims of CitiMortgage corruption. My home was illegally foreclosed on November 2018. We have had our family home for approx 30 years. We requested a loan modification from CitiMortgage. We were told to send various documents. We did what they told us to do. CitiMortgage said not to pay until loan modification is approved. Thereafter, CitiMortgage kept stringing us along month after month asking us to send the same documents over and over again and we did. This continued every month they acknowledged receipt of our documents they requested but nothing else from CitiMortgage. CitiMortgage set our home for foreclosure on or about November 8, 2018. When I called them they said they were taking in off because they again received our documents and it is with the Underwriter. I relied on CitiMortgage promise to take the foreclosure off. The day of the sale I received an unpleasant phone call by someone named Mohammad Reza Atigehchi. He was very rude to me telling me to get out of his house because he just bought my house at a foreclosure sale that same morning 11/8/2018 @ 9:00am. I thought it was a joke but it wasn’t. A few days after that hostile phone call I received a letter from CitiMortgage that we were approved for a loan modification. I was confused and did not know what was going on. But the supposedly new owner Mohammad Reza Atigehchi was able to get us evicted out of our family home of 30 years. Not only did CitiMortgage do us wrong and left us homeless but I believe that CitiMortgage and Mohammad worked behind the scenes on that sale. CitiMortgage created a lot of fake documents to proceed with sale and I found out after that there was a broken chain of title on my property and CitiMortgage had no legal rights to foreclose on our home plus we were then approved for a loan modification. Please help me and make Citi make us whole again. CitiMortgage is No good we lost everything because of Citi failure to act on their promises to us and help us keep our home. CitiMortgage were very deceitful among other things in the business handling with us. Someone needs to shutdown CitiMortgage because they too busy robbing innocent people of our homes and making us homeless.

    1. Beth Townsend says:

They change people’s contracts and forge their signature, same thing happen to me. Lied to us over and over again. Promises they broke.

    2. FLORA H CAPASSO says:

I’ve had these problems as well. Did you find a lawyer to take this case?
