Top Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a class action settlement that accused Alorica call centers of violating state and federal labor laws.
According to reader comments and posts on the Top Class Actions Facebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Alorica wage and hour class action settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $527.54 on Jan. 19, 2017.
If you filed a claim for the Alorica settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!
The Alorica class action settlement resolves allegations that the international call center company failed to compensate Customer Service Representatives for meal and rest breaks as well as for work performed before and after their shifts. In addition, the class action lawsuit accused Alorica of not accurately calculating overtime wages.
Alorica denied the allegations but agreed to pay $9.25 million to settle the wage and hour class action lawsuit.
Class Members included all individuals who worked for Alorica as a CSR at any time during the following date ranges:
- Colorado and North Carolina: May 30, 2011 – May 31, 2016
- California, Pennsylvania, and Texas: May 30, 2010 – May 31, 2016
- Iowa, Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Virginia: May 30, 2009 – May 31, 2016
- Georgia: May 30, 2008 – May 31, 2016
Under the terms of the settlement, Class Members received payouts based on how long they were employed by Alorica and in what state they worked in. Alorica representatives working in California received more compensation than employees from other states because California labor laws are stricter.
The deadline to file an objection or ask to be excluded from the Alorica settlement passed on Sept. 12, 2016.
