CBD edibles are supplements intended to help relieve a variety of both mental and physical health conditions. Although these products are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), some studies indicate that CBD edibles may, with limited side effects, help reduce the symptoms of anxiety or chronic pain.
CBD edibles contain CBD oil derived from hemp. CBD oil may also be derived from marijuana plants in states where marijuana has been legalized, but these products remain illegal under federal law. CBD products derived from hemp with a THC content of less than 0.3 percent are legal. THC is the cannabinoid in cannabis plants that causes a high.
What is CBD Oil?
CBD oil contains cannabinoids, or chemicals that bind to pain receptors in the brain to help relieve symptoms of pain. CBD oil by itself does not contain THC, so it does not cause a high, according to Medical News Today. The oil may be used to create edibles, as a cooking oil, as a food additive, or taken as a medication by consuming a few drops.
Are CBD Edibles Good for Anxiety and Stress?
CBD oil proponents claim that the oil can have many positive health benefits, including improving mental health, decreasing anxiety, slowing the growth of cancer, easing the symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorders, epilepsy, and seizure disorders. Although the initial research on CBD products is promising, there is limited information regarding the long-term health effects of CBD use, or the long-term efficacy of CBD for anxiety or pain, according to an article in Vogue.
Additionally, if CBD is helpful for managing pain and anxiety, it may not work if the supplements don’t contain the amount of CBD that is advertised.
Are CBD Edibles Mislabeled?
According to recent investigations and third-party testing, many CBD edibles may contain barely detectable levels of CBD, or none at all. As these products have become increasingly popular with consumers over the past few years, many manufacturers and retailers have sensed an opportunity to expand their business with CBD products. However, many of these retailers may be deceptively or fraudulently labeling their products in order to dupe consumers into purchasing them. Retailers who claim that their CBD products contain more CBD than they actually do may have cheated customers out of their money.
According to the results of CBD testing conducted as part of an investigation by NBC New York, numerous brands contained a fraction of the advertised level of CBD. Additionally, some brands also contained filler ingredients that were not disclosed to consumers on the label. One brand contained high levels of pesticides.
The supplement industry has a long history of allegedly mislabeling products, misrepresenting ingredient levels, and failing to disclose filler ingredients. If you have purchased CBD supplements and suspect that they contain less CBD than advertised, or additional unlisted ingredients, you may be eligible to hire an attorney to represent you in a class action lawsuit against manufacturers of CBD edibles. Consumers who purchased mislabeled CBD supplements, and pursue litigation, may be able to collect compensation for reimbursement and other damages.

Add me.
I suffer from anxiety. If I’m not buying what I think will help because of mislabeling.
