Palomar Health agreed to a $3.1 million class action settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach that compromised patient information.

The Palomar Health Medical Group settlement benefits individuals whose private information was accessed, acquired, disclosed or compromised in a data incident that occurred between April 23 and May 5, 2024.

According to the class action lawsuit, Palomar Health failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented a 2024 data breach. The Palomar Health Medical Group data breach allegedly compromised sensitive patient information, including Social Security numbers, health insurance information and more.

Palomar Health is a health system in California that provides emergency care, inpatient care, outpatient care and other services.

Palomar Health has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $3.1 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Palomar Health Medical Group settlement, class members can receive a cash payment and credit monitoring.

Class members who experienced documented losses as a result of the data breach can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for these losses. These payments may include compensation for fraudulent charges, identity theft expenses, credit monitoring costs and more.

Class members who did not experience documented losses can receive a flat payment of $60. The actual amount of these payments may be higher or lower depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement.

All class members can receive two years of free credit monitoring. This credit monitoring includes dark web monitoring and $1 million in identity theft insurance.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 7, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 22, 2026.
