Chrysler is recalling more than 239,000 Ram 1500 trucks due to a defect that can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall, announced on Sept. 1, affects 2025-2026 model year Ram 1500 vehicles. These vehicles were produced between Oct. 6, 2023, and Feb. 23, 2026.
According to the Ram recall, a software error in the radio system may cause the rearview camera to fail in displaying the image during a backing event, which is a violation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111.
“Failure to display a rearview image can increase the risk of a crash,” the recall says.
Chrysler to offer free software update for recalled Ram 1500 vehicles
Chrysler began reviewing warranty data, field records and customer assistance records in March, and in August determined that the defect constituted noncompliance with federal safety standards.
Chrysler is addressing the issue by offering a software update to correct the defect. This update will be available over-the-air or through a dealer, at no cost to the vehicle owners. The company will begin notifying vehicle owners on Sept. 24.

Chrysler says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the Ram 1500 recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In July, nearly 1.3 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks from model years 2019 to 2026 were recalled due to concerns over improperly attached seatbelt buckle anchors in the second row.
