Moen, Luxor Workspaces, Del Maguey, FunnyPaja, Guomi, Polaris top recalls overview:

  • Who: Moen, Luxor Workspaces, Del Maguey, FunnyPaja, Guomi and Polaris all recalled products this week.
  • Why: These top recalls involve product safety and possible risk of harm.
  • Where: The recalls are effective in the United States; the Moen and Polaris recalls are also active in Canada.

Several popular companies, retailers and manufacturers announced top recalls last week for products that may pose injury to consumers.

Moen initiates recalls for Flo Smart Water Monitor battery backups due to fire risk

On April 13, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (COSC) website published a recall for 10,000 Flo Smart Water Monitor Lithium-Ion Battery Backups sold in the United States and about 14 sold in Canada. Moen initiated the recall after it received three reports of the battery backups overheating and catching fire.

There have been no reported injuries so far, but consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled battery backup and contact Moen for instructions on how to disable it before disposing of the unit. Only the battery backup is being recalled.

Luxor Workspaces announces recall for audiovisual cart due to tip-over risk

Luxor Workspaces recalled 84,700 audiovisual cart products after the company found they could become unstable and tip over if loaded with heavy objects, such as a cathode ray tube television (CRT TV).

The company initiated the recall, which includes an estimated 1,650 Luxor audiovisual carts sold in Canada, following three reported child deaths in connection to the issue.

The recall covers three models of Luxor’s audiovisual carts: the WT42 Tuffy plastic cart, the W42/AVJ42/SS-AVJ42 metal cart and the LP-DUO/TPDUOEQ plastic cart.

Luxor urges consumers who own the recalled audiovisual carts to immediately stop using them and contact the company directly to receive a free repair kit containing parts that will add stability and weight to the product. The company will also provide consumers with warning labels cautioning not to put more than 25 lbs. on the audiovisual carts’ shelves.

Del Maguey recalls mezcal copitas due to lead amounts

Del Maguey recalled its ceramic clay cups, called copitas, which are used for drinking mezcal, because the cups may contain more than the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s recommended amount of leachable lead.

According to the recall, which the FDA posted, Del Maguey gave the copitas away in promotions across the United States at retail locations, events and tastings. It also sold them in Value Added Packs since October 2022 along with a 750ml bottle of Del Maguey Vida de Muertos mezcal and four copitas.

There have been no reports of illness so far, but Del Maguey asks customers to stop using the copitas immediately and throw them away.

Polaris Snowmobiles recalled due to fire risk

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission recently posted a recall on its website for 14,885 of Polaris’ 2022-2023 MATRYX RMK KHAOS and PRO snowmobiles

Polaris Industries says it received 164 reports of brake system failure and 22 reports of fires related to the recall so far. The fire hazard is caused when both the brake and throttle are pressed simultaneously.

Polaris asks owners to immediately stop using the snowmobiles and seek a free repair. Consumers can reach Polaris at (800) 765-2747 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central, Monday through Friday. They may check the company’s website to find out if their vehicle identification number (VIN) is included in any recalls.

FunnyPaja, Goumi children’s robes recalled due to flammability hazards

FunnyPaja and Goumi both issued recalls for their respective children’s robe products as they pose flammability hazards.

Both of the products, FunnyPaja’s children’s 100% polyester fleece plush hooded bathrobes and Goumi’s 100% cotton children’s robes, fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled robes away from children, stop using them and contact FunnyPaja or Goumi for instructions to destroy the robes and a full refund.
