Children’s robe recalls overview:
- Who: FunnyPaja and Goumi have both recalled children’s robes.
- Why: The robes pose flammability hazards.
- Where: The children’s robe recalls are active in the United States.
Two makers of children’s robes—FunnyPaja and Goumi—have both issued recalls for robes as they pose flammability hazards.
On April 13, FunnyPaja issued a recall for some of its children’s bathrobes on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website. The recall applies to 4,500 of FunnyPaja’s children’s 100% polyester fleece plush hooded bathrobes, which can be seen here.
According to the notice, the recalled children’s bathrobes fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.
The recalled FunnyPaja bathrobes were sold online at www.amazon.com from Dec. 2020 through May 2022 for between $10 and $23.
No injuries have been reported so far and the company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled bathrobes away from children, stop using them and contact FunnyPaja for a full refund, the company said.
“Consumers should destroy the bathrobes by cutting them both vertically and horizontally and disposing of them in accordance with local state recycling laws,” it added.
FunnyPaja and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly.
Goumi recalls children’s robes
Goumi has also recalled more than 700 children’s robes as they do not meet fire safety standards.
The Goumi recall was published to the CPSC website on April 13. It applies to about 760 children’s robes Goumi sent via direct mailing to consumers in Jan. 2023 as a complimentary gift for its loyalty program.
According to the notice, the recalled children’s robes fail to meet the federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.
The recalled robes are 100% cotton, have two front pockets and an attached belt, and were gifted in children’s sizes 0 through 6T and in natural and alabaster colors.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled robes away from children, stop using them and contact Goumi for instructions to destroy the robes for a $48 store credit towards a replacement product, the company said. Goumi is directly contacting known consumers directly.
Meanwhile, children’s robes imported by SMWVB, ChildLikeMe, Betusline Official Apparel and BTPEIHTD and sold exclusively on amazon.com have also been recalled. Click here for more details.
